Came in on a Sunday afternoon and this place was packed. Only had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The servers were very friendly and polite knowing that we didn’t speak Chinese. The food is delicious, portions are perfect and prices are reasonable. You must try the HK milk tea, best in town. We will definitely be back to try other dishes from the menu.
Food is really not bad, but the service seemed chaotic and slow - looks like the wait staff needs more training to become efficient. The kitchen was good though - food came out within reasonable time and presentation/taste was nice. Given that it’s only soft opening I’d still give them 4 stars. They only offer cash payment option right now, good thing is that we got 15% off for soft opening promotion. I’ll probably wait a bit before visiting again, to give them some time to train up their staff and smooth out their dinning room operations.
I went to this restaurant in the beginning of October 2022 and wanted to try this restaurant. We ordered two dishes, the HK style pork chop with spicy salt and the special poached chicken rice. I gotta say, the taste is not exactly HK style especially the pork chop. It just tasted like pork chops but lacks the spicy salt taste. The porkchop is over cooked and become quite dry unfortunately. It’s Chinese food but not HK style taste based on my experience with HK food. As a pork chop dish in general, tasted ok. The other point I wanted to make is I pay extra in asking for fried rice because it tasted best with spicy salt pork chops in my opinion but turns out all I get is a plate of yellow rice no eggs in it and the rice doesn’t tasted like fried rice as it lacks the pan fried aroma/. It tasted like steam rice but with yellow colour… not too happy with that. Don’t waste your money for in my opinion if they hasn’t change since October. The chicken dish, the chicken was nicely poached with chicken skin. It’s good but I prefer they give me more ginger and green onion sauce abit stingy on the - as shown from my photo My experience at that time is an ok experience so a 3 stars…maybe will try again if I pass by.
Very authentic experience with a smidge of upscale to it. Food came quickly and tastes like Hong Kong. Don't sleep on the milk tea or the sea salt cream French toast. Prices are not too bad either. Will return very soon!Food: 5/5
HK Cafe food, menus limited but has the essentials! Food was good, got the Portuguese baked chicken, smaller that average size but still filling. Prices are a bit above average.. but also one of the few of its kind in Newmarket so I’d say it’s worth it. Inside is decorated nicely and clean.
This is a new HK cafe that opened in Newmarket thank god! We came on a Sunday lunch, and it was a full house. Fortunately if you have a group of 2 or less, it’ll be much faster as we only waited less than 10 mins. The menu features breakfast items, combos, lunch, happy hour, popular all day and dinner options. We ordered the Satay Beef in Vermicelli, as well as Ginger Oil Fried Chicken in rice, and they came fairly quickly. I was surprised with the amount of beef pieces I got in the vermicelli as many spots I’ve been to only gave a couple. It would be perfect if the satay sauce had abit more flavour. The fried chicken pieces were pleasantly crispy with the ginger oil on top. Although my only complaint would be that I wish the rice wasn’t so oily could be from the ginger oil and fried chicken cutlet Overall the staff was pretty polite, and I’d definitely recommend you to come visit if you’re around. We will be back : IG: Ayenomz
We came on a Saturday close to 1pm, and the place was pretty busy. Food came pretty fast and the service was good. There’s Chinese and English on the menu. Flavour: As the resto’s name implies, it’s a traditional Cantonese take on cafe food, so I would say their food is pretty spot on. Service: Good service. Despite how busy it was, wait staff were polite and courteous to answer questions. Portion: Good value for the price.
One of the best HK style restaurants here in Newmarket/Aurora area… if you don’t know what to eat, this cafe will not go wrong. my favourites are their sea salt cream toast, their double cheese baked items, and fried chicken I usually don’t write reviews but it feels like home here and I need to support small businesses!
The portion is generous given the price. And the food taste flavorful and genuine. The place is well maintained and clean. I have tried many similar restaurants in North York area. This one is better than any of them.
Good option for a cha chaan teng up here in the Aurora/Newmarket area. Dishes are currently priced around $12.99 with some items being more steak or less. I enjoy their fried pork chop with onion gravy. I find the gravy less thick in texture and more thin like a demi glace which I enjoy. Their Hainanese chicken is decent compared to Pine House Cafe which is up the street. I also tried the baked portuguese chicken and enjoyed it. Wish there was a little more chicken and less potatoes though. Service is quick and efficient, but english speaking servers are definitely hit or miss so I have to bust out my broken Mandarin whenever I dine there.
