Story

Nicole Ramien RMT, BScN RN, DNM
Nicole Ramien founded NRG Medicine in 2005 in Montreal. She founded NRG Medicine Massage Therapy Toronto in 2011 and has recently moved to Ottawa to be close to her husband and family. She has moved her private practice to Ottawa and currently practices as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) at NRG Medicine Massage Therapy Ottawa.

She was an Honors graduate of ICT Kikkawa College and was the first fully certified Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapist (AOBT) RMT in the Greater Toronto Area. She completed the instructor certification program with AOBT, becoming the first Canadian to be able to offer barefoot massage training & certification to RMTs in Canada. Effective as of October 27, 2014 she no longer offers training through AOBT.

Nicole is now the primary instructor for the Canadian Institute of Ashiatsu Massage Therapy (CIAMT), which provides Canadian RMTs the Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage Therapy (ABMT) Training Program in Toronto, Ottawa & Halifax locations. Visit www.ashiatsucanada.com for more information.

Nicole received degrees from both McGill University and the Panamerican School of Natural Medicine. She began her health care career as a Baccalaureate Registered Nurse with hospital experience in Hematology-Oncology, as well as practicing Naturopathic Medicine as an intern at several clinics around the world. Nicole has completed the AFCI designation, enabling her to use Anatomical Acupuncture to proficiently treat chronic pain and several other medical concerns, in addition to using nutritional supplementation regimes to promote her clients optimal health. Nicole’s passion is to selectively combine the various elements of her training, to create an individualized and effective approach to each client case that she sees, achieving an inspired and holistic practice that ensures the client leaves feeling satisfied that their issues have been addressed.


Katherine Pugliese, RMT, RYT
Katherine Pugliese is a passionate therapist deeply motivated to care for and help others. Her interests have always been in integrative health and wellness; fascinated by the world of yoga, meditation and holistic nutrition. Katherine attributes her success in overcoming stressful times and achieving the life goals and happiness she now enjoys, to these healing modalities.

Prior to Registered Massage Therapy, Katherine studied Biology at Queen’s University and completed her Yoga Instructor Certification in Greece. After teaching yoga for several years in Vancouver and Ottawa, Katherine’s intuition lead her to Massage Therapy, which she studied at Trillium College, receiving honours upon graduation.

It was an instant connection for Katherine when she received her first Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage – she knew she had to get trained so she could provide her clients with the same extraordinary experience she had had personally. Katherine is currently in the CIAMT Ashiatsu training program and will be fully Certified by June 2017.

Katherine believes in a team approach to client care for lasting results, where the therapist is responsible to identify and treat the source of discomfort as well as to advise on appropriate home-care remediation, while the client plays an active role in understanding and implementing the therapists recommendations for home-care. She provides focused treatment, employing critical thought and intuition to design an effective care plan specific to each individual’s needs. Katherine strives to create a calm and positive environment where her client feels at ease.
