My favourite spot for a-la-cart sushi in Scarborough! Long time customer of Ni Ji and the sushi is always high quality. Prices are still reasonable especially their lunch menu options. Definitely would recommend as a sushi option if you're in Scarborough!
Perfect place to eat in Scarborough. The staff are great. The food is delicious. The lunch specials are good value. Love the complementary congee and salad they give you. Good selection of dishes on their regular menu too if you don’t want the lunch specials. The sushi is fresh. Go to place when I am in the area.
This was our first visit to this restaurant although my cousin and family had been here a few times. The service was excellent and would give 4.8 stars for service. The Sashimi was quite fresh and most of the food was good, the beef bulgogi was a little too well done so it was hard to chew. For food, I would give 4.2 stars. The price was as expected and the ambience was nice. The parking lot is a little small. Kid-friendliness: Kids loved the food and server was very friendly and considerate to the kids. She even brought them forks seeing the younger kids struggling with the chopsticks! Parking: The parking was limited.
I always wanted to try the food here because of the good reviews. Finally last Sunday I was able to order and picked it up. Lots of Japanese restaurants near my place but I went extra mile to try the food here. My daughter loves the shrimp tempura. Wasn’t able to take a photo of it. It was gone in an instant. It must be really good to finish the two orders. Going to the sushi, I was not impress due to the rice, it was kinda dry and hard already. It’s been like a rice just taken out from the fridge.
Absolutely loved the fresh sushi Wish they can have substitutes for the imitation crab meats used in most of the rolls..but taste was on point... didn't fancy the calamari as it was a bit on the harder chewier side.. will definitely recommend and visit again when I'm on that side...biggest downfall was parking...sharing a car park with a mechanic must be hard..had to wait long time for a park as they are well patronized!!
This is my go to place for sushi in Scarborough! My favourite meal to share is the love boat. I’ve had both the 2 or 4 portions are generous. The fish is fresh and thick cut sashimi. Keep up the good work!
Ordered a few rolls and my friend got a bento. The prices are very reasonable esp for the quality. As an avid sushi lover I can tell the fish is fresher than most places and the maki is bigger so you get your moneys worth. Dropped by on a weekday night for dinner and service was friendly, was not too busy. I would recommend giving this place a try if you like doing a la carte like me. I am not a fan of the typical ayce sushi places so restaurants like these are totally worth it.
In contrast, it makes Ni-Ji Sushi’s weekday lunch menu an amazing deal. Here you’ll receive the protein with way more than two sides since every selection comes with a simple green salad, hot miso soup, and a small bowl of their savoury congee for good measure. For the indecisive, the lunch combination $16 provides a bit of everything. Sadly, the chicken teriyaki is probably the most forgettable part of the bento. The poached chicken breast lacks flavour and is a tepid temperature, this seriously needs to be marinated and grilled. If anything, I was more impressed with the shredded cabbage below the fowl, which was at least soaked in the teriyaki sauce. The accompanying shrimp and vegetable tempura were delicious, the batter just thick enough, crispy, and sizzling hot. And Ni-Ji doesn’t skimp either, with two shrimp and assorted vegetables it’s surprisingly plentiful for something that’s only one part of the “combination”. The last third of the pie is a decent California roll made fresh and an ideal ratio of filling to rice. While the salmon steak could be cooked less, being an oilier fish, the salmon teriyaki $14 was at least more flavourful than the chicken. This bento is also more manageable for a smaller appetite, served with a cube of cold tried tofu, lightly pickled turnip slivers, and japchae potato starch noodles. For something lighter, the sushi lunch $14 offers enough food to satisfy without leaving you in need of a nap. Small bites of warm rice sit beneath the salmon, tuna, and butter fish in the six pieces of nigiri and a respectable California roll rounds out the bento.
Amazing place to have lunch. We were served quickly even if it was busy and our server took special care to look after us. She was so kind, she even gave us an extra gyoza so we could all have two each. We also got the Nabe U-Dong + California Roll, Tempura U-Dong, and the Sashimi Donburi. Everything was really delicious. I’m not sure why we received the rice porridge - but I ate everyone’s shares haha. Portions were great and take out boxes are given for leftovers if you ask.
Fantastic spot for sushi. Fresh and delicious. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
