This museum is kinda disappointing. It is a beautiful museum with great design. The exhibits they do have are artisticly well done. But there is very little content. A lot of pictures but little artifacts. What history they do talk a out is very vague lacking details or personal stories. There js also a whole exhibit dedicated to the photos of the heir of a non existent monarchy?! It's also very empty. It's a very weird place.
They place is huge very empty. I wish I would've seen old Greek ruins or something along the area. Parking we used some pizza joint in the corner. Some pieces were very interesting. Pictures below. Is what I found interesting.
The 1st Greek Museum Outside of Greece. Small and with no parking but I have to give credit to the people that made their inspiration a reality and built it. The museum guide, Dimitra, is very knowledgeable and kept the students' interest going. The presentation was interactive and in-depth. The two top floors are great and worth visiting while the 1st floor changes themes but not as often. It is also used for other events. The gift shop has many items and books to buy but none in the Greek language.
Small museum that can be done in a matter of 2 hours that avoids standing/walking for hours on end. Exhibits constantly rotating check website to see what exhibits are on display. Plenty of places to sit throughout the museum and there are several Greek restaurants within walking distance of the museum to eat afterwards.
They could have provided more contents and objects in the permanent part of the museum for this fee. Sort of basics of Greek culture and their influence in the world are needed. The gallery was beautiful and well-presented though. The best part was the rooftop view.
They don't really have any ancient Greek artifacts except coins, the whole museum is about Greeks in the 1900s and the Christian church, I really wanted to see some images of greek gods or statues but none of that was even there, they also had some spelling bee event on the first floor and I didn't even get to explore that floor at all because of the event, they should offer discounted tickets when events are going on, it was so loud they ruined the experience, it took me about 40 minutes to view EVERYTHING which wasn't much
Beautiful museum and great location in the heart of Greektown. However, the exhibits aren't in any set order and there isn't a good feel for greek history. I would recommend they may add guided tours to help the holes in their exhibits!
National Hellenic museum is one of millennium park's favorite places to go you'll see it right outside the park area walking distance from exit.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
I attended an event at the National Hellenic Museum this weekend the Homer-athon! and had a blast! What a beautiful space, with a fun, professional staff committed to their mission of sharing Hellenic culture.
Nice small museum in Greek town. There are 3 floors. The 1st floor has a store and a small exhibition on the migrants arriving by boats on Greek territory with pictures of camps. Second floor shows the work of a Greek immigrant artist and was very beautiful. Third floor explains the war of Independence and the departure of many Greeks to the United States. This exhibition was interesting but sometimes a bit confusing.
