"We are a Richmond bagel, first and foremost. Being an engineer in his past life, Nate meticulously developed our bagel recipe. Nate spent 2 years serving and asking what Richmonders were looking for, all the while traveling back and forth to New York, New Jersey, and Virginia making friends and getting advice from the best bagel makers out there. We aim to perfect the classics and make a true Richmond bagel that reflects our beautiful, complex river city. We’re a local coffeeshop loving, farmer’s market friendly, preservative free, chickens in the backyard, beers on the porch, bagel in the morning kind of company."

Great independent bagel store featuring a full and creative line of bagel sandwiches. You can buy their advertised menu items or build your own. Nate's is a great option for at-home parties since you can buy a variety of types of bagels and fillings for every taste. There is now some limited sidewalk seating, but the inside still feels cramped; I hope that a larger venue is in the future. Be warned: these are not small bagels.
I recently visited Nate's Bagels and was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the bagels and the amazing service I received. The rosemary sea salt bagels are delicious and when combined with a lox bagel... mmmmmhm! It's clear that they truly care about their customers, and Paige even remembers my name every time I come in - it's a small touch that goes a long way. Despite the influx of new bagel shops in the area, Nate's Bagels remains consistently the best in my opinion. I highly recommend giving this bagel shop a try if you're in the area - you won't be disappointed!
Your average bagel shoppe. Nate's is always a hit or miss. 50%. The melted cheese hot breakfast sandwiches are good. The jersey turn pile is yummy. The pimento cheese sandwich is pictured. Not fully what I was expecting. My friend paid for $1.00 of cream cheese on the side to lube up her throat in order to eat that whad of pimento cheese on her bagel. They offer many drink options but did not have half and half creamer. I appreciate that you can enter the facility now, it makes the experience real again!
Love this place, best bagels in Richmond! Best bagels south of NYC! Also super cool folks celebrating Recovery Month by serving Recovery Roast Coffee and supporting VCU Rams In Recovery! AWESOME bagels, AWESOME peoples!
Excellent bagels and the staff is super efficient with the orders. Had an order on a Saturday morning and even with a huge line we got our order very promptly. Delicious bagel and amazing cold brew!
I absolutely love this business' commitment to safety and their employees. 500 stars. I struggle with the quality of the food. It seems like the raw ingredients are good, but it's just always a little wet and bland. Super appreciative of vegan options. They just need a wee more salt or flavor and smoothness in the cashschmere and less flavor on the lox. It's not quite a pickle. It tastes like you should bake it into vegan bacon. This is my personal taste so I'm not taking away any stars.
This place keeps getting worse and worse. They took their phone number off their listing so now I am completely done with them. They keep getting worse: They stopped toasting their bagels, and when I brought it up to the manager he was very arrogant, saying their business is still growing and people accept it. No, dude, no one wants cold bagel sandwiches for $12. They no longer sell day-old half dozens for a reduced price. They are resting on their laurels of being the only decent bagel place around. Except that they are not. Most everyone I know who used to eat there has commented on how it’s slipped. Care about your customers, Nate’s, go buy some new toasters, and make even a marginal effort at customer service. Richmond is going to move on.
A Richmond staple! I love their New Virginny and the Veggie specialty bagel are delicious. While their specialties are great, I love getting a dozen of all the different kinds of bagels the Rosemary Sea salt is one of my all time favs and then the Hot Honey cream cheese. This is great if you have company over and want an easy breakfast, a quick snack with so much flavor, or even for your daily breakfasts. Every time we go we are greeted with the kindest smile and friendly face of the man behind the desk. I would only request that they had more coffee flavors but I also understand that Bagels are their specialty and special they are.
Bagels are delicious, but the older guy who has worked there forever is incredibly rude every time we come in. Today we had to wait *a full hour* for two bagels that we ordered online. Another employee kindly apologized and told us to order in person next time for a faster turnaround. The older guy snapped at them for suggesting this and then snapped as us for expecting to wait less than an hour. Not sure why they continue to employ him. We were way more frustrated by his terrible customer service than the actual wait time.
I think they made a mistake dropping the online ordering option. Their bagels aren’t great, but it was always a convenient spot to order ahead and walk over to. Then today as I went to their site to order, it still says order online but then the toast tab page says unavailable. So I called and they said they’re only doing in store now and it’s a 25-30 minute wait. Yeah I’m not gonna stand there fore 30 minutes for a mediocre bagel. I opted to just go buy bagels from the grocery and make my own sandwich.
