Muslim Community Services (MCS) is a settlement service agency established to meet the needs of diverse multicultural and multilingual community groups in Peel, with a particular focus on the newcomer community. Established in 1987 in Brampton, with 2 employees only, today, MCS has grown exponentially into a multi-service agency that is proudly celebrating 30 years of serving newcomers, primarily in Brampton and West Mississauga.
MCS core program is LINC; Language Instruction for newcomers to Canada. MCS has a proven track record in delivering LINC for twenty five years. MCS currently operates at two locations; one in Bramalea/Brampton and one in Mississauga West. Throughout the years, we have served more than 31,000 clients in our flagship Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. LINC has grown substantially from a starting point of three part-time classes in 1992 to an astounding 25 classes currently held at two locations. LINC also provides supporting services such as Care for Newcomer Children, transportation subsidy and administration to the newcomers to Canada.
In addition, MCS provides Family Support Program, Women Support Program and Seniors Drop-In Program.
MCS is funded federally by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), as well as provincially by Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration.
The mandate of MCS, as a not-for-profit community-based social service agency, is to meet the needs of a diverse multilingual and multicultural community in the Region of Peel and to develop programs and provide services in response to those needs, issues, and concerns within our catchment areas; and to help permanent residents, new immigrants and refugees to integrate into Canadian society.
Our mission statement is: ”Strengthening Our Community by Reaching Out to Those in Need”. MCS reaches out by supporting individuals and families in acquiring knowledge and developing essential skills.
