Mrs. H's Fish & Chips

Good fish and chips found here! Fresh fish, crispy batter, and hand cut chips. We enjoyed the halibut dinner for 3 and it was a great value. There is no indoor dining. You can either takeout or dine at the rustic picnic tables on site. We would visit again when in the area.

What a surprise! We were driving and decided to stop for lunch! Glad we made it! Food is delicious and staff is so friendly! Our fish and chips was delicious! Also the hot dog! Great outdoor seating area! Totally recommend!

Picked up fish and chips from the apparently’great’ fish and chips stand. Fish was a child’s portion size and fries were reheat and not taste worthy. Guess Mrs H not there to supervise Friday afternoon! Would not recommend and will definitely not go back

Off the beaten path. I discovered this roadside gem. This place is jammed. The fish and chips is what you want but they have some other options. Portions are generous and its made fresh. Was a good stop for the hungry road traveler in the area.

Been wanting to try this place for a long time since the reviews have been positive but I must say that I was pretty disappointed. The food was just ok. We ordered the cheeseburger, onion rings and half order of fish and chips. Everything was fresh but lacked in flavour. The cheeseburger was juicy but a little bland, the bun was the best part. Onion rings were great and probably the best thing we ordered, a little on the greasy side but fluffy and delicious. The halibut was disappointing. Although the portion was generous and the fish itself was nice and fresh, the batter was very greasy and really didn't taste like much. The photos online make it look so great but it was just ok. Slaw was fresh and tasty. The fries were our least favourite part of the meal, not crispy and just bland. I would say this was a typical fish and chip order that you would get at a pub or restaurant. Not your traditional English style fish and chip shop if that's what you're expecting. All-in-all a ok meal but at least the value was good. Not a place I would rush to go back to

Everything comes to an end. Shame. We have supported Mrs. H's since she opened and as of late the fish has become VERY THIN had to look to see if there was fish with very thick and greasy batter. 2 of the three pieces were thin or missing and the other was ok. We ordered the regular halibut meal as we always share. Mid-August 2022. Dined in. We have noticed it changing over the past few months but on September 3rd our friends were coming to our cottage and stated they wanted to pick up Mrs. H's on there way through and we warned them that it is not like it use to be but they insisted. They will never return as well. Terrible. Not one person out of the 5 of us finished our meal - we threw it out As a local I will give some advise from one business owner to another. Charge more but keep the quality. Quality is how you grew your business and poor quality is how you will kill it. Do not shrink the fish and double the batter to make up for higher costs. We all know that costs have risen and understand. We have had a bad experience three times now this summer so enough is enough. NEXT. Good luck on your new business strategy.

One of the best fish and chips place I been too.

My husband and I are currently sitting in the parking lot absolutely drooling and raving about how fantastic our half dinner halibut is. The meal a large amount of fries, gravely, 2 large pieces of battered Halibut, 1 small container of coleslaw and a drink was only 22$!!!!! The both of us shared this meal and we have the perfect amount of “full” going on. This is absolutely going to be apart of our biweekly Wahta visit. Absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for an amazing meal!!!

Halibut was delicious, nice portion of fish and perfect batter, fries were yummy too and coleslaw! Not sure where bad reviews are coming from? I will definitely return for more delicious food!

Visiting Bracebridge and always hear about Mrs.H's Fish and Chips in Wahta Station so we took a ride. Beautiful drive through B gorgeous country. Fish and chips are everything they say about them. Good portions, non greasy, batter not too thick...just right.. and fries to die for. Great experience and very tasty food. Will definitely make the trip again!
