As a Richmond Hill resident, I have found this restaurant to be very dependable over the years. It has been great for take out and even has a very large dine in area that is well appointed. It is easy to find and has its own parking lot. I have been ordering Cantonese noodles, Lobster and silver fish from here for years. I love that they are typically open on holidays when others are closed. I would recommend this place.  Vegetarian options: They have many vegetarian options, including veg noodles and tofu dishes.  Parking: They have a private parking lot with at least 50 spaces.

Good services but foods were too salty especially the fired squids and the hot sauce. The soft shell crabs fired rice color was not mixed evenly, tasted was ok. The environment was clean and brightly. 1 star plus for the green beans sweetened soups provided for each customer at the end of meal to balance the salty taste.

August 26 2022 edit: Placed an one-dish take-out order on Google Maps half an hour before arrival. However, to my surprise, the order was nowhere close to finishing.  I understand that tables were pretty full and everyone was busy.  What triggered me was the attitute of the reception lady. Instead of explaining the situation on why my order was not finished or  why it was missed all entirely, she lied to my face and blaming me of "not ordering ahead"  I mean, come on, really?  I have heard about this establishment for a long time yet never find a good time to visit it. Finally, here we are.  The taste of the food is top notch, the ingredients are fresh. Friendly and proactive staff and clean environment.  The food and the experience are worth every penny.

Mr. Congee meets the standards of Chinese cuisine in Richmond Hill, a heavily populated Asian community. My family and I came here on a Wednesday night and restaurant was at 50% capacity.  Food was great except I found the fried squid to be a little on the saltier side. The hostess also seated us close to the exit so when someone left the restaurant, my family and I could feel the cold air hitting our skin. Didn’t exactly have the best dining experience but overall, service was quick and friendly.

**update on 12th Sept 2022  Revisited on last Wed 7th Sept around 4pm. No line up and plenty of tables. Perfect afternoon tea spot for family. They offer variety of noodles and rice combos. The afternoon tea combo comes with tea, coffee, cold bubble milk tea and red bean drink w ice cream. Extra $3, you can add a side dish with 2 lamb skewers, deep fried tofu, cucumber salad & many more.  Excellent customer service. Our server - Cindy was very welcoming and courteous. She checked on us few times to make sure we had enough tea/water and our food were served. Food was great as always. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend to friends and family.  *******************************************  Pretty decent Chinese cuisine with reasonable prices. Portion was good and food served hot. Good customer service. The server Jason was very helpful and attentive. The only concern was the food came out in 20-30 minutes. The wait time to get the table was also long.

I usually go to their Scarborough location and gave this Richmond Hill location a visit. The food here isn't that good and the service is aggressive and they are obviously understaffed. Servers yell at each other and also at patrons waiting in line.  they're quite busy and the table we got was cramped so that servers kept asking patrons to move so they could slide through between tables. we were also told to write our own order down and it was difficult to flag down our server. our order must've gotten lost along the way too because tables around us that had put in their orders afer ours were all served before us. we ended up waiting ~35 minutes for our first dish.  Pepper salt pork chop - was dry and lacked a baking soda or egg in the marinade to deal with the dryness of a lean cut of pork. also lacked seasoning like salt and spice and seemed to throw diced onions and bell peppers on top.  Tofu grouper casserole - pretty good flavours and uses real grouper. a good amount of fish but only had like 4 pieces of tofu.  Snow pea leaves with king mushroom - the corn starch slurry didn't hold and became soupy but otherwise the vegetables were fresh.

Staff were very accommodative with our party of 6. The service and food was quick. The duck was great, the Chinese broccoli was fantastic. Unfortunately, the squid was very chewy. I would come.back for sure to try other dishes.

This is my family’s go-to place for Chinese. We tried many times and the food here consistently great. We love their sautéed deep fried lobster and crabpreferred crab ,beef dish covered with deep fried flourcan’t remember the name, and turnips with shrimp were good too!! The only thing they need to improve would be service and hygiene of the restaurant. Otherwise, it’s a pretty decent place for enjoy Chinese food.

We had our fathers day dinner here. Didnt have the freatest table as we were seated in the room at the front which is a big rectangle tablewe had to pass dishes around as opposed to havinng a lazy susan. Food was what youd expect of comparing to congee wong style restaurants. Good quality, decent portions. Bbq and roast pork were delicious. Would return if my family chose to but congee wong and congee queen are my go tos.

Excellent food but service is not so good. Servers barely speak English until I told that I don’t speak Chinese.  Squid kebab is highly recommended.
