Story

THE MOVATI ATHLETIC STORY

Our story begins in September 1997 with the establishment of our very first health club. Right from the very beginning, we knew we wanted to create a fitness experience that went beyond just working out. We wanted to create a place where real people felt at home. Where they would receive expert advice in a caring atmosphere and ultimately be able to push themselves to achieve things they never thought possible.

What began as one club has now grown to 13, with more on the way. We continue to hire exceptional, caring people, adding to our family of Movati Athletic employees currently working hard to ensure you always feel welcome, comfortable and healthy.

Our clubs are spacious, modern environments where no corner has been cut in our quest to offer our members the best facilities.

We work so hard because we truly believe in what we do. Every day we are helping our members improve their quality of life, little by little, step by step, pound by pound. We love seeing them change their lives in such wonderful, positive ways, and it's this that drives us forward, motivating us to keep providing the highest levels of service, courtesy and care for all our members.

The gym is always clean and has a huge array of equipment. Even when it’s busy it doesn’t feel over crowded. The fitness classes are fantastic. That’s the main reason I come here. There’s a large variety of classes and with really helpful instructors so you can try new things without being anxious. My one complaint is the amount of people saving machines with their bottles or towels. A machine will sit unused for ten to twenty minutes before the person ever comes back. I wish they would enforce a no saving rule or something because it’s super annoying. Other than that I love this gym.
Movati Kanata is in a central location beside Home Depot and across from Costco Kanata. With only one road in and out for the gym, costco, and other businesses, traffic can get busy. In all, it is worth it to have a women's only gym and fitness class studio as well as a women's only pool with hot tub, steam room & sauna. The classes are excellent and diverse: hot yoga, spin class, kickboxing, zumba... including womens only classes. There is an online booking system for class reservations, and the number of remaining open spots is shown so you can see if it is sold out or how busy the class will be in advance. Bookings are checked before entry to avoid classes being over-filled. Post-workout, the protein shakes at the juice bar are so tasty!! Staff are pleasant, and the entire premises are well-maintained and clean. Great mix of ages and fitness levels! It's always a great workout at movati: The gym for everybody!
I have joined this club last fall. Slowly they started to take out the variety of classes they had for the afternoons.nnToday is Sunday trying to book for next Tuesday and 2 of my classes are full.nnTheir location is badly placed, inaccessible from other streets when traffic is at peak. On top of this, they have many members; in the last month I have often found myself not being able to find parking while trying not being late to a class.nWhen you go to the gym straight from work, parking IS an issue for me.nnI will not renew.
This gym has certainly gone downhill over the past two years. The locker rooms, sauna and steam rooms are incredibly grimy, towel drop off always overflowing… they allow members to hang their dirty underwear outside the showers and leave them there. There is definitely a lot included in a membership price but the care of the facility has gone downhill so much it’s not worth it.nnIt’s disgusting.
Really impressed with the gym being going there for 2 years. There is a wide variety of equipment to use with a lot of space so you don’t feel too crowded. After my workout I enjoy a nice soak in the hot tub which rejuvenates me. I was greatly distraught when I found out that they removed the pool table. Me and my buddy enjoy to play a game of pool every so often after our work out. I hope if they remove the pool table they will replace it with something new and better.
