What an amazing experience. My wife took me out for my birthday and it was non stop joy. This is definitely a place to bring someone for a special occasion. The staff are amazing and attentive. The food is spectacular. Watching the staff prepare your meal is amazing. I'd recommend booking far in advance. This is a bar style, served each course type of experience. The menu does change so a revisit is a must.
In my opinion this is the place to go for amazing omakaze. It's a intimate space with only a bar seating area for the best view of the preparation and skills involved in preparing flavorful and beautiful dishes. Each dish is great with a menu that shows care and thought was put into it. All the fishes and items were very fresh and I believe worth every penny. This is quality and flavours I expect from a great place in Vancouver or Toronto, but we are so lucky to have one in Edmonton. I went in late December and tried to book after the meal for January and they were fully booked until February and so I booked for February. The price is not cheap so expect to pay a pretty penny, but what you get is well worth it.
My boss is very picky with his food but he recommended this place to us so many times. He even gifted us a gift card and REQUIRED us to come here. Decided to take a chance and drive for 40 minutes to try out and I have to say Moonga is the very best Japanese restaurant out there. The chefs were all very attentive, the host was lovely, the dining experience was way on top. Gosh, even the soy sauce bottle was cool. Thank you so much for the excellent meal. Will definitely come back one day.
Easily THE best sushi we have ever had. I think we’ve tried almost everything on the menu at this point. Everything is so amazingly fresh and prepared so well with so much care. The owner is kind and friendly!!! Will recommend this place to everyone as our #1 place to eat in edmonton. Incredible
I spent a wonderful birthday night here. My partner asked the restaurant if there were any birthday celebration treats when he booked the seats. At that time, the restaurant said they did not have such experiences. But when I finished my last main course and prepared for the dessert last night , birthday music suddenly came up, and then the dessert was beautifully decorated with birthday blessings. I was so surprised and delighted that I was told to be the first customer ever to have this experience. The food is good.
Tom is a wonderful sushi chef. Attentive staff. High quality sashimi. Skillful preparation of the fish. Intimate space. 10 seats. Omakase only on weekends, so book in advance. If you can't wait, go during weekdays! Sarah is a wonderful host, Chef Tom & team are talented!! We used to order for take out from his ghost kitchen, and we are so glad he has his own restaurant. The experience is divine. Such high class, one of my best sushi experiences in Edmonton, AB.
It’s pricey compare to other sushi restaurants. However the food, service and environment are great! Very fresh fish, and other items even though it’s hard to find fresh items in Edmonton, but they have a fresh source of fish.
I went here for the first time yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday. My friends and I really enjoyed our time here. The food, their accommodation to my booking changes, their presentation, their clean space, and their staff's welcoming presence. It exceeded my expectations. You can tell that the chef and owner himself shows a great deal of care to his customers by preparing the sushi himself, giving us complimentary birthday ice cream, and even playing birthday music! Thank you for such a great dinner. Will come back soon Check out my full review here coming soon! @asianyegeats on Instagram
Very expensive rightfully so and initially an unassuming location, but good lord, the sushi here is excellent. If you have it in your budget, the chef's special nigiri platter offers a lovely range of flavours that can't go wrong. Absolutely worth the price!
This is my first visit to Tom's restaurant. As expected, his attention to detail is exhibited in his craftsmanship. The udon was very good and not too heavy. The broth was amazing and hit the spot on a cold winter day. The sashimi was presented in a fashion becoming of its quality. Moonga Sashimi is a must visit stop in Edmonton, especially if you are craving Japanese cuisine!
