Quiet and peaceful monument to visit allowing quality time on self reflection after the hike to Mount Royal. Love the presence of the monument. It is very inspiring. Also, if you visit in the middle of the week, there won’t be very many people around. There were some youth hanging around but not disruptive. Really enjoyed my visit. I recommend carving some time early in the morning or before dusk to not miss the daylight in taking photos or videos.
A great park for a walk or to bring a blanket and soak up the sun! There is a drumming circle on Sundays, it was a fun way to experience the local community.
A landmark you naturally pass on any Mount Royal visit — impressive and full of activitynnI’ve visited Mount Royal many times over the years, and the Monument to Sir George‑Étienne Cartier is one of those places you always end up seeing on the way in or out. The statue and the tall column make it a clear gathering point, and the open space around it is often full of people walking, resting, or meeting up before heading into the park. It’s a spot that feels lively without being overwhelming.nnThe monument itself is striking, and the surrounding area gives you a good sense of the park’s scale before you start climbing toward the lookout. Whether you’re here for a quick photo, a longer walk, or just passing through on your way up Mount Royal, it’s a reliable and memorable stop.nnI’ll revisit again and update this review with photos and clips.
Definitely worth going to on Sunday's! I highly recommend it. From the monument, you have access to all the trails and beautiful views of the city. I would recommend starting here and walking to Beaver Lake and then the look outs. You'll have amazing views and get a truly authentic Montreal experience. Go and check it out! In the fall with the foliage, it's BEAUTIFUL!!
It was a pretty stunning view, wish there was more information on who this person was. Certainly important enough to have such a large piece erected for him and to remember him by!
