One of our favorite museums in Montreal. The mini mondo area is amazing for kids, one of the best we have been to. Super clean and well designed. Loved all the exhibits, super informative and standing up for good and meaningful future causes. They also have great seating areas to pack a picnic including a baby chair within the picnic tables, amazing! We spent a solid 5 hours here and could’ve done more had our 15 month old not pooped out!
This is a spacious and well organized science center which combines exhibits and hands-on STEM activities for children up through pre-teen. In fact, even as a former biology teacher, I had learned a few things during my visit.nnMy son especially enjoyed the hands on build lab where he was given a choice of one of four different timed build activities. Once he received his challenge, it was then up to him to McGiver whatever contraption he could to solve the challenge. It was a great way to learn how to improvise, adapt, and overcome for him.nnThe on site coffee shop selling good quality coffee definitely helped my stamina to keep up with my kid.
We enjoyed our visit, but it wasn’t quite what we were expecting. We were hoping to see a dinosaur exhibit and more anatomy or science based educational displays, so it felt a little underwhelming for us.nnThe museum seems to be geared more towards interactive exhibits than traditional science and natural history displays, so it may not suit everyone’s interests. If you’re expecting something similar to a natural history museum, you might be disappointed.nnThe highlight of our visit was definitely the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition. The photos were absolutely incredible, with a great mix of breathtaking, funny and adorable moments from nature. That exhibit alone made the visit worthwhile.nnOverall, it’s worth a look if you’re nearby, but I’d suggest checking the current exhibitions beforehand to make sure they match your interests.
My family and I had a great time during our visit. It's an excellent place to go to both have fun and learn some science for all ages.nnThat being said, I do recommend getting your tickets online in advance to avoid the wait. I also suggest giving yourself plenty of time for your visit so you can properly enjoy the exhibits without rushing through them at the end.
Highly recommend this science centre! It’s very interactive, allowing kids to try everything themselves. We lost track of time and stayed for 4 hours instead of 2. The IMAX movie was also a huge hit with my child.n​Tip: You get a hand stamp upon entry, which makes re-entering the science centre super easy if you step out midway to watch the movie.n​The staff were extremely kind and helpful. This is an ideal spot for toddlers up to early elementary school kids.
