Cité d'archéologie et d'histoire de Montréal, située au cœur du quartier historique du Vieux-Montréal.

Story

Pointe-à-Callière est un complexe muséal érigé sur une concentration de sites historiques et archéologiques d’envergure nationale qui permettent de retracer de grands pans de l’histoire de Montréal, du Québec et du Canada.

En plus de présenter un spectacle multimédia intitulé « Signé Montréal » et deux expositions permanentes, « Ici naquit Montréal » et « Pirates ou corsaires ? », le Musée présente chaque année trois expositions temporaires sur des volets de l'histoire montréalaise ou sur de grandes civilisations de l'humanité.

Pretty interesting museum to checkout at the Old Port. The new and temporary interactive sections were the most fun .. knights, pirates, and the alley-op.nnAccessible by bus and we didn't need to buy tickets in advance as we visited on a weekday. I can see it could get busy on weekends, so you might want to plan in advance.nnIt is near other attractions at the Old Port, and you can easily spend a few hours here depending on how in-depth you are checking out each exhibit.
We loved the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History! It’s a unique place to learn how the city evolved — who lived here, what it looked like long ago, and how it all changed. The kids were impressed, especially by the interactive room, scavenger hunt, and fun games. Staff were friendly and welcoming.nnDon’t miss the top floor — the view over the city and major attractions is amazing! There’s also a nice little café and a great gift shop, don’t forget to check it out.
Wonderful place to see Montreal History in brief. Old insurance building still stand below. Great movie to start with. Then so many different sections from A to E. I enjoyed the play section and the view from the top floor. Very informative and bistro available until 3.30 I think. Definitely visit again.
Spent over two hours at the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History and was still completely fascinated. The underground ruins, interactive exhibits, and storytelling made Montreal’s rich and diverse history come alive. A must-visit if you want to truly understand the roots of this incredible city!
The quality and interactivity of the knight exhibition are awesome!nnAlthough the wayfinding signs could improve, I still had a great time visiting this museum.nnTakes about 2 hours to go through everything, including the city development of Montreal.
