The Montreal Biodome is a facility located in Montreal that allows visitors to walk through replicas of four ecosystems found in the Americas. The building was originally constructed for the 1976 Olympic Games as a velodrome. It hosted both track cycling and judo events. Renovations on the building began in 1989 and in 1992 the indoor nature exhibit was opened.

Visited the Biodome for the first time and it was a fantastic experience. It was such a great time looking at different animals. They are so adorable. The space is very well structured and there is a lot of walking involved so be prepared. Some sections are way hotter as the temperatures are maintained such for the animals. So its a challenge to walk around with heavy winter jackets. My most favourite were the Penguins & Otters! A must-visit with family & friends!
Amazing experience. Lots to see and totally worth it. We loved the penguins the most and went at feeding time which was interesting to see. The Lynx and otters were close seconds. The app didn’t seem to do much for me and wasn’t worth the download unless you want to learn more about the animals. I was very hot throughout most of the visit, unclear if because of temps inside for the animals or because there were a lot of people, or both. Would recommend dressing light. I liked how open it was.
Took our 3&5 year old grand kids. We all had a great time. The planetarium was great tooyoungest had a great nap while we enjoyed the show. What a great way to reuse the Olympic sites. We look forward to another trip when we have time to visit the insect, butterfly, and Biosphere sites that are part of the full Life Science package. Traffic in the area is a challenge it seems all day so prepare for that
This place is perfect for families with kids. The animals are amazing, the territory is clean, well maintained, and organized. You get a special brochure with the description of the animals in each section. The building is not too big for the kids to get tired. The nice bonus was the cafeteria. There are tables where you can eat your own food. There are even microwaves that can be used by the visitors. This place is really kids and family friendly! Make sure you buy the tickets in advance.
A fun place for people of all ages to visit! The animals are a delight to see and the exhibits are beautiful all year round! For those with children who require a changing station, beware that you may have to go a bit out of your way just to find one as not all restrooms have a changing station. The food court only serves vegetarian and vegan foodstuffs. As one who is not usually the biggest fan of these kinds of food, I found them quite tasty and would definitely recommend them.
One of the best place to visit. I loved it. They have four different type of eco system for different animal needs. It was fun. I’ve never seen penguins in my life and it was really fun seeing them there. Overall it’s a great place to visit with kids and family. Loved it .Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Loved the experience! All the animals looked well cared. Their penguins are super cute and the jellyfish display is mesmerizing. They serve vegan food at the cafe and have a small gift store so check them out for souvenirs. If you go on a weekend you may not find parking easily and beware of the kids they are so loud.
Parking was easy but you have to pay for it. Some ongoing construction work outside which is quite noisy. The place was really crowded for a Monday morning but I enjoyed my visit. It is clean and there are some very fascinating animals there and my favorite...the penguins . There were snakes , monkeys , parrots , fishes and lots more. Children are allowed, food and drinks allowed too. There are enough picnic tables outside, eateries/fast food, there are lots of places to eat inside also. The giftshop has souvenirs too. I recommend a visit.
Great experience for us The architecture was so incredible and unique. And we love the minimalist interior design here! So nothing to complain about the building. However, we hope that if the animals could be more diverse. It only took us one hour to go through Biodome, with over half an hour looking at the penguins. They were the most interesting here. Overall, Biodome is worth visiting at least once in MTL. A little bit disappointed but really cool!
Such a great visit and had the run of the place. Super clean and very considerate and friendly knowledgable staff. Very accommodating when visiting other family of museum sites. Such a great experience with the four domains, different climate, and animals insects and fish! Would highly recommend!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
