Mike's Fish Market

A great spot with fresh oysters. We ended up purchasing two dozen oysters, we got a dozen French kiss and a dozen of the rustco oysters. The gentleman who helped us checked the oysters to see if they were alive before selling them and also threw in some free sauces as a bonus. Really happy with the quality and freshness level, The oysters needed a slight rinse but were all very easy to shuck. In comparison this place was more expensive than Diana’s oysters, but quality was similar but not as much to offer in terms of diversity.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon during our stop at the St. Lawrence Market. Ordered 6 oysters per their recommendations they shucked then for us. They served with lemon and had a bar of salsas/sauces to self-serve. My husband and his sister ate them and said they were delicious. Service was friendly and prompt.

Love the seafood at this vendor. They staff was helpful with recommendations. Chose the Argentinian shrimp which was deep in red colour and very flavourful. They even vacuum sealed the bag since I told them that I would not be eating them right away. Dropped them in the freezer and they still were good.

My go to place for fresh seafood. If you like oysters I highly recommend mike’s as they have a high attention to care for helping you select oysters and also educate you on them. In house oyster bar to allow you to sample you selections freshhhh.

I've come to Mike's since 2018 since I discovered the market. I love that they have an oyster bar and when I have oyster cravings, I just pop by and get a couple shucked. Fancy snack? Maybe. Mike's also offers sashimi grade tuna and salmon, so you can make poke or sushi at home. It's really convenient if you live or work in the area. They also have tobiko and I've seen saffron sold at the cash for a crazy good price. So if you need to make paella, sometimes they carry good priced saffron. They also have frozen fish available but tons of fresh fish to choose from. I've purchased scallops and octopus before. They sell the legs frozen and the whole octopus! They also have a variety of white fish: sea bream, mahi mahi etc. They will skin, gut the fish for you too if you ask. I've also purchased crab cakes before and they are so delicious. Shallow fry and you are good. I think I've seen the owner "Mike" before, and he always looks happy. He's on site and working away. His staff are also always attentive and are in good spirits. Somebody's always asking "Have you been helped?" Pretty sure I've spent thousands of dollars here already to date. One of my top favorite fish markets! I'll try to add some photos next time!

Simply wonderful! For my Dad's 89th b-day, I got 5 dozen oysters for 7 people. Shucked, and beautifully laid-out on ice in a styrofoam cooler. We ate them up, with champagne, as an appetizer for our family brunch. Followed by smoked salmon and gravlox also purchased at Mike's. The service is always great!

We purchased 2 stuffed soles yesterday to cook for dinner tonight $31 for both. As we took our first bite, there was a 7-8 inch piece of HAIR intertwined in the stuffing puke!!!. We immediately threw both pieces out. VERY disappointing for the price. Cleanliness is clearly an issue at this establishment - would not purchase from here again.

My favourite fish place in St Lawrence market. Other places are also great, but what sets this place apart are the friendly and super helpful staff. I’ve gotten great tips for recipes from the staff.
