The new Mezes is beautiful - spacious, modern classic, clean lines, and lots of light. Definite bonus points for the look and feel of the place. Now on to the food. Stopped by for lunch and got: - Kalamari: Easily the best fried kalamari in Greektown. Kalamari was sweet and not rubbery, batter was light and tasty on its own. - Small Kria Poikilia: Dips galore! Got the tzatziki, taramosalata, melitzanosalata and tappenade. All were smooth and tasty, and liked all of them except for the taramosalata tasted almost potato-y to me. - Aegean Fare Special: Beef slivers and chicken chunks were tender and flavourful. Side Greek salad was a good size. - Greek Yogurt: Smooth and properly sour. Generous with the walnuts. - Chocolate Fig Baklava: Easily the best baklava I've had even if it is unit traditional. The chocolate and fig spread went perfectly with the walnuts and pastry. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable and relatively on par with the rest of the street. And again, that beautiful new space. Mezes is a good spot even amidst the crowd of Greek restaurants in the area.
Great place for an authentic delicious Greek family style dinner. Be sure to get there early to beat the rush. They do not take reservations. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great service and excellent meal and drinks. Highly recommend! Lamb chops were amazing!Recommended dishesSaganaki, Chicken Souvlaki Dinner, Moussaka with Rice and Potatoes, Lamb Chops by the Piece, Dip Platter, Garlic Pita Bread and Hummus
This restaurant is down to earth, offering really tasty dishes that don’t break the bank. We tried the lamb chops by the piece and loved them, and the Spanakopita was truly heavenly. However, the grilled calamari wasn’t as impressive. The portions are on the smaller side but not overly so, and the restaurant has a warm ambiance. The olive oil on the table was well noticed. We would definitely come back!
We have been coming to this restaurant for few decades. Now moved to a really modern and fresh location just east on Danforth. Wonderful place, friendly service and food ‘top of the Greek Town’. I am on Keto diet and I loved all the great things I could have. Healthy and so delicious. Go before the lines get too long.Food: 5/5
Went there in a Sunday night, despite a 30 minutes wait for a table of 2, the food was nice and worthy nice salad, Souvlaki, and Moussaka. The new place is also much better than the old place around the corner much brighter and more decorated, no more waiting on the street since they had a large indoor waiting space. One downside was that our waiter barely communicated with us, and we need to look for him for long. Might because that there were too many tables for him to handle and we were the only table-of-two sitting in between some large groups. Hope this could be improved in the future and will definitely come back again!
Mezes felt like home, even though it was my first time eating there. The food was excellent, and the service was amazing! We sat in the patio, and it was perfect! Lovely place for dates or even brunch with friends!Food: 5/5
Very loud place but food is amazingly delicious. Loved everything we ordered. Fish and eggplant feta dish is super delicious. Only Moussaka was very dry and didn’t taste as we wanted it to be.Food: 5/5
been here one time before and the food is amazing! Saganaki and the chicken breast plate were so damn good! Other items ordered: lamb chop by piece, dolmades, grilled octopus. Our waiter did not smile once though and the service was so blah - not engagement or enthusiasm at all.
Always great food, fresh, vibrant, tasty. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating, even at their most busiest time. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5
This is not the old Mezes, its a few stores down on the corner. We got to eat on the patio, beautiful outdoor space. Crowded as usual. Fantastic service and delicious food. Ordered pork skewer on greek salad. Good flavours. Grilled veggies and stuffed peppers. The rice inside was missing a little umph - needed more flavour. Squeezing lemon on it helped enhance the flavours. Grilled quail with rice and potatoes. This is my go-to. Not many places have quail. Small little birds with rich meat. You got 2 whole quails but just know theyre small birds to begin with and theres a lot of work nibbling. But worth it.
