PHENOMENAL: hybrid black and spicy ramen, black tsukemen dipping noodle, karaage. EASILY one of the best tasting ramens in the area. FULL of flavor, great texture in each noodle. Noodles picked up sauces for each bite. Karaage were a great compliment to the noodles. Slight knock: had some flies pestering us during our meal. : Else, very sanitary with hand sanitizer at each table and staff wearing masks. Greatly appreciate the caution the restaurant continues to take to make their guests' experiences enjoyable and safe.
Absolutely loved this place! The large ramen is a generous and delicious, very filling. The chasu in their ramen is melt in your mouth absolutely delicious, some of the best chasu I've had in ramen around Seattle. I was a little surprised by the pad of butter in the spicy miso ramen but it worked really well! Will definitely return.
4.5 stars but no rounding. Lots of Asian friends said it’s the best ramen place in this area. Their appetizer are pretty average, definitely better than most of the restaurants. The quality of the noodle are perfect, I will give 5 star for it. But their tukemen sauce are kinda salty and ramen soup are perfect good tho. And price are definitely not cheap, average $25 per person. Average feeling pretty good.
Another great ramen place in Capitol Hill, but probably most well known for their tsukemen! I like that they have something called the "hybrid", which is a mixed broth of their red and black broths. Overall, great noodles and ranks as one of my favorite ramen places in Seattle. Whenever somebody asks me for tsukemen recommendations in Seattle, I always refer to Menya. Food I got the black ramen because I love the garlic taste in ramen! Be warned, the broth is pretty heavy though which makes it more delicious and a little on the salty side. But these two factors make the noodles taste amazing. The pork belly is seared perfectly and there is a good ratio of meat:fat on it. Highly recommend getting extra if you like pork belly. My girlfriend got the hybrid tsukemen because she wanted to try both the red and black flavors and our server let us know that the hybrid is fairly popular. The tsukemen have wide, flat noodles that make it so easy to pick up and dip in the broth. In addition they are so tasty! The takoyaki has a lot of fun sauces that you put on top and is a lot of fun to choose from! If you can't choose just one, then go for the half & half. We got the mentaiko and curry, and personally I liked the curry one more! I wish they would lay more of the sauce on top of the takoyaki balls. Atmosphere A casual spot that has a lot of paintings and drawings on the walls. Nothing too fancy here and it feels a little too decorative with the paintings and swords. That being said, it's not that noticeable since they are high up on the walls and you will be looking down at your yummy food. Pricing Standard prices for ramen in the Seattle area. I would come again since the food is so good for the price. There is some happy hour options that are good deals. Service The service here is excellent and the server was very nice and checked in frequently to make sure everything was okay. Other CARD ONLY ESTABLISHMENT!!! They do NOT take cash!
Ok food and ok service. I don’t feel anything stands out tbh. But it’s the first time I tried dipping noodle! Super flavorful and I love the texture of the noodle. A tiny bit salty for me. Everything else we ordered was good but nothing memorable. Won’t regret coming but might not visit again. Fair price as well. The homemade tata sauce with friend chicken is something new but not recommended.
A good place to grab a hot bowl of ramen. I was expecting traditional tasting ramen but turns out to be a fusion. I ordered Black Ramen and the Tsukemen along with Chicken Kaarage. Chicken Karaage is Japanese style fried chicken and was delicious! I highly recommend this one. Black Ramen was okayish, but the Tsukemen was good, the soup was creamy and loved the flavours. Overall it was a good dining experience, the ambience was nice and the staff was friendly.
Knowing that this is a chain from Japan I had some expectations, but unfortunately was a bit disappointed. The noodles themselves could be good but weren’t cooked properly so were too soft and not chewy enough. Broth was very thick but lacked some kicks. Would like some more flavor. That being said, I would still go given that this is already quite ok for ramen in the States
So far my favorite go to Ramen location. I always recommend everyone to order take out if not able to dine in, they’re always busy taking care of their customers! They manage to always get the orders correct, especially on large orders, they have been consistent every time! Love the pretty handwritten labels of toppings and easy to distinguish what goes with which order. Thank you for preparing each order with care and precision!
I ordered the original ramen and my guy ordered the hybrid ramen. The meat was soooo so good! The ramen doesn’t automatically come with an egg so you have to order one. However the egg was a little cold so I recommend breaking it so it can heat up better in the broth. The broth was delicious, thick and creamy! I added garlic and the red chili type topping. Such a good experience and really good ramen! Super filling so this is the place if you want thick and filling and a little heavy ramen good place to go for a hangover. In comparison to ramen danbo; menya has thicker broth and super juicy and fatty meat, danbo has a lighter broth and closer to the taste of what I experienced in Japan. The gyoza was good too! Seared on one side and soft on the other. Super yummy ^_^ The wait wasn’t too long but don’t wander too far because they call your name ha
Service was very friendly, if not very proficient. Food was surprisingly low quality for the great reviews, son bit into a bone shard in his miso ramen and hurt himself, the "pork" in my ramen was a huge hunk of inedible fat, and they charged an 18% service fee for having a group of 6 then still expected a 25, 30, or 35% tip in addition. I was very disappointed and we definitely won't be returning.
