I had several days vacation in downtown Toronto, staying at McGill Inn B&B. This is a nice home-like house with breakfast included. It really is AT the downtown, close to the grocery stores, clubs, and all other amenities. In fact, it's so close to everything, you won't need to drive nor you would want to, considering the traffic is always bad, and constructions just add up. The McGill Inn had a decent room size, a good security, additional things, like a computer access, the daily cleaning, etc. The shared restroom could be an inconvenience for some but to me it was no problem. The price was unbeatable, too. I also would like to personally Thank to Estela, the owner. She really went above and beyond to make me feel like home all the time I stayed there. Thank you Estela for doing such a great job and keeping the place nice and clean at all times! Lastly, the house has a nice patio, shared kitchen downstairs where you can grab a coffee in the morning or just a cup, glass, or a fork. There are nice notes throughout the house explaining the simple rules and expectations - like please share, and put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. So, simple stuff, nothing demanding. Some other reviews were talking about noise and such on the street. Well, I had nothing like that, and I was in and out the house early in the morning and late at night. The area and the near by streets were always clean, lit and safe. All in all, I highly recommend staying at this B&B, not only for the price, but also for the welcoming and safe environment and an unbeatable location. The central square is like 20 min walk, The Village, and the clubs, like Toybox, CrocodileRock, 120 - at about 30 min walk, which is in most cases faster than call a taxi in the rush hour. Oh, and if you are a smoker - you can smoke on the patio, no smoking inside the house, which is good. Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy this nice Inn as much as I did. Thanks again Estela!
We usually stay at a regular hotel, but we tried something different this time. McGill B&B is conveniently located; it's within walking distance from many places e.g., Eaton Centre. The location is particularly convenient for us because a Japanese izakaya traditional Japanese style bar is right across the street. We ended up dining there almost every day. The room is very clean and comfortable to stay. Our room was right below the entrance so we heard footsteps every time someone got home, but otherwise, it was very quiet. The breakfast is included; you can eat whatever you like at Bryan's kitchen. The selection includes cereals, bread, bagels, oatmeal, etc. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.
Very clean rooms, very clean bathrooms and kitchen. Pleasant and friendly owners. This isn’t a Hilton but you get the same hospitality that you would get at a 4 star property. I will definitely be staying again whenever I’m in Toronto again. Highly recommended!
stayed here twice. Ergin and his wife are the reason i chose it again. they both keep the place running smoothly. both are friendly and helpful. great location. close to the subway, supermarket, shops, and restaurants. breakfast is simple. milk, juice, coffee, tea, oatmeal, breads, cereals, and fruit. banana quiet home. not a place for kids. will stay here again next time and recommend. stayed in the green room the first time. shared bathroom. rooms are small. but if you’re only looking for a place to sleep and chill, it’s enough. the second time i stayed in the white room. it has its own toilet and shower. spacious enough.
Nice place to stay, clean, if you don't mind sharing a bathroom which was well kept up. I would definitely recommend. Price is reasonable. Only thing is you have to pay for parking..Owner was nice and he's always working to keep it tidy. has Wifi, and neighborhood was clean, bars and restaurants were within walking distance. I would visit again...
Owner is very easy to deal with and very casual. Other guests were very friendly and we bonded over the free breakfast provided by the owner of the house. Also everything is a 15 to 20 minute walk away so there is never a shortage of things to do.
For a hostel of that type i must admit it is very good. The bed is very comfortable and the rooms and bathroom is cleaned everyday we can see. Its impecable. Lots of choice for breakfast. I did not see the staff but i mustrecommend that place to anyone looking for cheap and comfortable place its a shared bathroom but its like one per floor for 3 rooms so its really not a problem But the only thing that bothered me a bit is the wifi not working half of the time it cuts for some reason cant get internet. I hope they will fix this issue
Double room just means wide bed, but this place is great w/ free wifi and breakfast. The bathroom is shared but it's awesome! The guy who runs it is very nice as well.
Great place to stay for reasonable price. Has a feeling of a real house with story and authetnicity behind it. Would recommend staying for breakfast and having a chat with guests - a great chance to talk to people from all over the world in one room drinking a cup of morning coffee
My cousin was their guest in June 2014. Nice place but the phone situation is unacceptable: ONLY a tape asking to leave a message!!! Once in a while a very nice Polish lady called Monika answers guess she is the housekeeper and you can ask for the guest. The rooms are too expensive when minimal phone service is lacking and I am told they are way too small! Location is OK, but lack of being reached is a serious drawback!
