always has had great food but could be slow to get food and service seemed a little chaotic and confused. Not anymore. Food still great and their service is way better now. So glad I went back and it is kid friendly.

Every time we go we get really good service-the people who work here are very kind. The combo meals are good value and the menu is reasonably proced. The sushi is fresh, delicious and beautifully prepared. There is a great variety of tasty, authentic Japanese food choices. This is one of our go-to places when we visit Canada.

We adore sushi and will try every new sushi place we can. For the last 8 years, Matoi has been our sushi staple. Their food is always good, at a reasonable price and the staff/chefs are usually pretty fast at getting your order out to you. Bonus: they are great with kids and accommodate with plastic plates and cutlery

Sit there for 5mins to get a hot tea. And the waitress forgot to take the menu, waited another 10mins to get the menu. Then another 8-10mins for the oysters. Completely a waste of time. The oysters were small and one of them still had a piece of shell attached on it. The lunch box was below the average, the teriyaki beef was over cooked and the rice of the sushi were way too dry.

Matoi is without a doubt the best Japanese in Tri Cities. Some of the best in Greater Van. Great food! Great service! Owned by Japanese and Korean couple.
