Ed and Steve did a great job diagnosing and repairing an engine problem we had been trying to solve for months. The 20 year old 5.7 LX Mercruiser engine would die and fail to restart, stranding us. My wife refused to go out again until it was fixed by professionals!
I found Mason Repair who had the time to investigate during busy June. Though remote, located at Mason Lake south of Belfair, they had a dynamo to test the engine under load, and did a great job eliminating sources of the problem and focusing on fuel delivery. Besides issues of Ethanol fuel, which I will no longer use - they replaced the original fuel pump and had the four barrel Webber carburetor rebuilt.
Taking the boat out after being stranded several times in our remote area of South Puget Sound, I was a little apprehensive at first. But she started right up, without having to pump the throttle as in the past as I had become accustomed to doing. No hesitation as I accelerated - ran smoothly - and when I opened her up, she ran like she was 20 years younger! WOW!
The problem was fixed at a reasonable cost. Plus, Ed and Steve are great guys with integrity who really know their stuff, and are concerned about doing the right thing without costing more than necessary.
