Markham Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA Accredited veterinary hospital specializing in the needs of our dog and cat friends. We have been serving the Markham area since 1951 and are located in the Eastown Plaza at the corner of Highway 7 and Ninth Line, on the southwest side. The practice of veterinary medicine is changing very quickly, as are the needs of our clients to have services performed in a caring, professional and efficient manner. We have the physical facilities, electronic capabilities and veterinary expertise to continue our success in the future. If your pets need a family environment away from home, lodging is available in our “Doggie Dorm” or “Kitty Kamp”.

I just cannot say enough good things about my experience boarding here. Our dog had some higher-than-average medical needs, requiring a little extra help, and we had an out of town function to attend. I almost gave up on finding a place that could take her, but Markham Vet Clinic was able to do so, no problem, even though we aren't regular patients. The staff was friendly and thorough, they talked everything over with me multiple times to make sure they understood the dog's needs, and she was clearly well cared-for. I can't thank the staff enough.

I brought my dog here for a year after bringing her home. I'm a new pet owner, so I was always asking questions to ensure my puppy was getting everything she needs.  The first doctor assigned to us was great! Our only gripe was the cost of each visit but that was to be expected.  Recently, we visited for an appointment and were scheduled with another doctor. I wasn't aware we'd be switching doctors, not a huge deal, but would've been nice to know. The vet assistant and doctor we had made me feel worried about my dog's well-being just so they can get testing done.  I also asked a lot of questions about things I was concerned with, and was never given a direct answer. Instead, I was looked at like I should have known these things already. The solution they provided was to spend more money. In fact, they have constantly pressured me into spaying my dog. I had told them multiple times I understand the health benefits for it but my partner and I were not sure yet. One of the strategies the doctor had to get me to re-consider was to talk to my dog saying, "you need to get spayed so you don't end up with cancer!" in that cutesy voice you do to a dog. I was utterly shocked by this.  On top of that, pricing for each exam with vaccination had changed, unbeknownst to be.  Giving 2-stars because the front desk folks are nice. This location is way overpriced with the only motivation was to generate numbers.  I wouldn't recommend this place to friends/colleagues.

Two Stars Only- a star for Doctor Leung, we think she's great and a star for Angie who has always been pleasant and helpful.  We had been taking our dog there for just over 5 years.  She is a larger dog 60 lbs however she is scared to go into the vets office without us.  We were there last year to have blood work done so we could purchase the heart worm medication.  I stood outside at the door wasn't allowed inside as they locked it.  I helplessly watched in horror as the vet technician put a lead rope around my dogs neck and proceeded to drag her by the neck across the floor. All the while my dog was screaming, crying and just looking back at me for help.  It was awful!  I pounded on the door and windows and demanded that she stop and took my dog out of there.  We refuse to ever go back as long as that technician works there.  We've found another vet.  Too bad because Dr. Leung is pretty good at her job.  **Update after reply from the vet's office:  I'd like to add that Dr. Leung was kind enough to call me after the incident and was trying to explain the technician's side of the story.  I clearly stated that she Lied! I watched the entire incident happen and it happened just as I described.  Pandemic or not....it doesn't matter. A scared animal should not be mishandled that way.  Again, Dr. Leung is amazing.

The staff is so friendly! I forgot my dogs medications two hours away from my location and they were able to contact my vet and get me a few doses to help us out! We did have to wait til close to the end of the day to pick up when ready but my dog was able to get a few doses of her medication.

The staff are so friendly and patient. They are approachable and are able to answer all your questions with detail. Our dog is shy, but they did everything they could to make him comfortable. Would recommend 10/10

Always happy with Markham Veterinary, then my daughter had to move to Ottawa with the dog.  Ollie was very happy going there, they took very good care of all his needs.

As my 14 year old dog got sick and reached the end stage of her life, I am very grateful to have found Dr Leung at the Markham Vet Clinic as well as the supporting staff.  Dr. Leung is one of the most caring Vets that I have come across, and she was very thorough in her treatment as well as her communication with me - clearly and patiently explained her conditions and the various treatment plans and options.   She even sent videos in real-time to show my dog during treatment, and efficiently overcome any communication barrier during Covid protocols.

Highly recommend this wonderful clinic. We've been bringing our dog Coconut to them for the last year and every time we've gone they have been clear and caring about whatever is going on. They have great day-time care when we need it and Coconut absolutely loves them. He goes bananas every time we arrive because he can't wait to get inside to see the lovely team!

Dr. Firth is knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things clearly. The clinic is slightly more expensive than my current vet as well, but I guess everyone prices differently. Also, I went to pick up meds for my cat yesterday and the front desk person I'm sure forgot to call me while I waited an hour in my car due to current covid policy. It really should not take that long given they knew ahead of time to just pick up meds. Not the greatest customer service experience unfortunately, barely an apology was given considering how much of my time was taken. I'm giving 3 stars just because Dr. Firth was great.
