Great hobby shop. I go there for model train parts every time I get to Halifax. Thanks for great service.
Hands down some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. Maritime Hobbies staff are some of the friendliest around and super willing to help you find exactly what you are looking for without pressuring you to buy the most expensive item on the shelf. Highly recommended stopping in this holiday season. You'll find something for everyone on your list. Also Gundams are cool. *edited review to add a pic of my complete first Gundam model. Robots stay being cool.*
Prepare to experience mansplaining by the men who work there. Interesting array of items, but rude employees. It's not a surprise that many of the poor reviews on this shop are due to the service. You're only doing a disservice to your business.
They packed this model railroad piece for me. It went through Pearson twice, as well as Denver, San Francisco, and Taipei airports perfectly intact. Amazing people, incredible selection.
Very helpful and down to earth staff. I asked a couple noobie questions and they showed me exactly what I needed.
Costumer service is nil, last time I was there the employee was sitting on a chair behind the counter and didn’t even say hello even though I said hello. The supplies to make models is insane, they have everything I think I was there once that they didn’t have one thing. The selection of models is slim, I would recommend checking out the aviation museum out by the airport if you want models even if you want a ship, they just have more. Neat spot though I’d definitely check it out, a bit pricey on some things.
After about 40 years, I finally got back into making model planes. I started with an RCAF Spitfire Mk IX. Beautiful. Maritime Hobbies had everything I needed... paints, glue, etc. Very friendly and helpful. :-
Condescending, rude, and not very friendly. This happened a week ago. This is not the first time I have shopped at your store and always found the staff a bit cold the one I have dealt with. I have read many of your reviews and looks like some of the behaviors haven't changed. I am not the type to write reviews but his time I had enough. But some of your customers found your staff very friendly and helpful so that's all it matters.
Fantastic store, wish there were more around, feels very much like a family run business, prices are even reasonable, especially considering the location. It would be missed very much if it was gone in my opinion, i love when i have the chance to stop in
I first discovered this shop in the early 1980's when it was located in Scotia Square Mall and was always filled with wonder with what they had to offer to experienced modellers as well as the neophyte like myself once was. Their selection was really overwhelming to my younger self and was always blown away with the displays of finished kits by their customers. Now, 35 plus years on, I still visit this store to accommodate my needs and they still have a most impressive selection of kits and accessories for the young as well as the young at heart. From my model aircraft days, to the trains I used to keep to the wooden ships I build today, they have always had just what I needed and it is great to see that they are still here serving people.
