What a wonderful patio restaurant! Amazing cocktails esp the tamarind margarita, great seafood tacos. Wasn’t a fan of the pork tacos as too hard and no taste but the guacamole was other worldly! Would highly recommend!!! Wait staff lovely too and are open to conversation.
This restaurant is in a great location on bank street. When we walked in we were welcomed by a host/waiter. He was very friendly and professional. The design of the restaurant has great potential, but there are some parts that may need to be updated. The menu was a decent size. We got the horchata water and hibiscus water. The horchata water was amazing and actually my favorite part of the meal and the hibiscus water was good as well. For our appetizer we got the three empanadas chicken, vegetable and meat. The filling of the empanadas were good, but we found that they were a little too hard and small for our liking. For the main dishes we got the beef tacos and the skirt steak. The tacos were average because the meat lacked flavour and they were sitting in a bed of tomato sauce which made them soggy. The steak was good along with the sides that came along with it plantain, rice, guacamole and beans. The only issue I had was I asked for it to be well done, but it wasn’t and the plantains had cheese on it which I felt took away from the taste. We wanted to get dessert but decided against it because we were so full after the meal. Overall this was a good experience and I am curious about trying some of the other options on the menu.
The costumer service was excellent but the empanadas were really small. The dish I order it was really good. Although the tacos were really saggy. It think the environment and design could be improved
When we got here it was empty at 1pm on a Saturday, but after ordering others started to pour in. Good accommodating service, good variety of authentic and fusion dishes. The Mexican coffee was excellent. Will definitely be back to try other things. The buffet looked good but was a little too expensive for us to try for lunch! Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible from front door. Second door could open to accommodate further width.
Follow my food blog on Instagram for restaurant reviews: @mimi.munches! If you're looking for delicious Mexican food and also want to dance or have a cozy place to stay, @margaritaottawa in the Glebe is a great place to spend an evening! . I started by trying their Margaritas , which I highly recommend! They have many yummy flavours such as: fire , cilantro, tamarindo, hibiscus , and lime . My favourite was the hibiscus - it was richly flavoured and tasty. I would only recommend the "fire" one as it was very spicy - even for a spice lover like myself! . I thought my favourite dish would be the tacos , but it was actually the wings - they were fried very well and sauced with a deliciously thick and spicy sauce. The meat in the wings was juicy not dry, and they were a good size. It was so good I wanted to order a second plate but decided to try other menu items. . For their tacos , they were of a good size and I liked that each had dollops of guacamole for freshness. I felt like the amount of veggies was good as well. They go especially well with a tasty margarita! . Lastly, I was feeling nostalgic, and wanted poutine as a treat, but also wanted curly fries , so I was excited when I found they had a curly fry dish with cheese sauce! It satisfied my craving for something indulgent and went perfectly with the saucy wings. . If you're someone who likes to dance , definitely sit inside as some evenings there are different themes and there is a DJ playing music. The night I was there, it was 90's music with lights and artificial smoke , which made for a very cool vibe.
We had a big group for dinner. The food quality was amazing. The tacos took a LONG time to come out of the kitchen. The servers were a little unorganized and kept asking if we wanted a marg, even though there were pitchers on the tables. Patio was great.
Located on Bank St. in The Glebe Margarita is a pleasant more upscale Mexican style resto although it is still quite casual. A nice feature is that there is a large outdoor enclosed terrace as well as a reasonably large interior so it is enjoy during the warm months. We had a guacamole with home made nacho chips, an excellent Aztec soup which you pour yourself into the bowl of tortilla stripes...fun!, a seafood taco and Enchilada Suizas...all were tasty. Service was pleasant but the food took a little more time than I thought it should given how quiet the restaurant was. However, if you are looking for some good more authentic versus Tex-mex cuisine then give it a try. Parking: Being on Bank street there is a considerable amount of parking but you have to watch out for it. There is also parking options at the Landsdowne just a few blocks away walkable even in winter time.
I initially came here expecting a casual dinning experience but I was thoroughly surprised with an upscale dining experience somewhere between fine dining and casual. The food on the menu reflects a chef and cook staff that enjoy exploring flavor and food combinations that you will not find in other restaurants. I also enjoyed the wait staff that gave you space to talk and enjoy your food and conversation and wasn't always at your table. However if you needed something it wouldn't take anytime at all to catch the attention of a member of staff. If you do decide to go here I would highly recommend getting one of their margaritas.
I cannot stress enough how amazing this place was. As someone from Florida I've eaten a lot of Mexican food, but this is probably some of the best I've had. The molé is absolutely incredible. And the mojito is the best I've had. If I could give them 6 stars I would.Food: 5/5
I feel bad giving this restaurant a mediocre rating. The drinks we ordered were good and the nachos tasty. Unfortunately, the service was very, very slow. The table next to us left because it took too long to bring their order, they cancelled it, while we had to physically track down our waitress for the bill as she did not come by our table. Although our waitress was doing the best she could dealing with too many tables, the problem remained that many customers were clearly unhappy. Would I come back? Yes, as staffing is a problem that can be fixed. However, on this visit, what could have been an order of 2 or 3 rounds of drinks for five people stopped at 1 due to very slow service.
