Beautiful, historic, views to die for. It's hard to have one set of standards when places are so different! If you love to connect with nature, with the past, with the feeling you can only get in one of America's or Europe's grand old hotels. You'll get a sense of the majesty, the discipline, the decorum of society's upper crust of yesteryear. You'll enjoy how nature envelopes you and how good the solitude of an early a.m. stroll around a beautiful lake feels. But you will NOT have all the conveniences and amenities of a modern 4 star hotel. It's a trade off. There's a wonderful ranger-led historical tour of the hotel each day. There are daily ranger talks that are well done. There's a wonderful weekly performance by a musician/ Bigfoot descendant. But there is an occasional squirrel or chipmunk in the lobby. Crowds this out substantially in September and though it's getting cold already, it's a wonderful time to be there. Book well in advance. Of course a lake view is desirable but comes at a cost. Plan to spend quiet time with a good book by the fire in the lobby or one of many more secluded nooks and crannies.

Beautiful historic hotel at the head of two valleys. Watching the sun set over the lake is worth going here. The food and rooms and excellent. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Getting here takes some driving, but there are many great hikes right from the hotel!

This lodge is historical, classic and has spectacular views. The hiking from this area is some of the best America. It's just as I remember it from 21 years ago but with improved plumbing. All else remains the same. This would be a 5 star review if the dining room had better food. Wow, it was gross. The 2nd tick from keeping it a 5 star review is the price. National Parks should be available to all. The prices of this hotel are expensive for very basic rooms. They use the word rustic. It's bare bones and not very comfortable but worth the view.

We went to Many Glacier on our honeymoon a couple of weeks ago. We loved the hotel's history and the location, however there was a significant vermin issue (mice) in our room. We woke up to one in the first night and called the front desk first thing that morning. They explained they do not trap for mice because they are a part of the park. I understand and appreciate this sentiment, but at the same time there is a clear rodent issue. They did supply us with a "noise machine" but it was broken and did not work. They also said maintenance would come and attempt to plug up the holes, and they never did. We plugged up the holes ourselves with towels, but the mice still got in the room, we could hear them. It was pretty gross and hard to sleep. I spoke with the Assistant Manager and she was pretty apathetic regarding the issue. She was not willing to work with us in regards to a discount or anything to remedy the problem. I'm pretty sure they just let the next people check into the room after that. We loved Glacier and also stayed in the Rising Sun Motor Inn. I would recommend that over Many Glacier hotel. It was cheaper and no mice!

Historic mountain Lodge in the Swiss Alpine style. Views cannot be beat. Rooms are modern and updated but architecture results in some quirky features. Parking lot is a short steep walk away, but that's the price you pay to not have a view of the lot. Scenic boat tours depart from docks below hotel.
