In the spring of 1990, Betty Lee - a hardworking Malaysian mother of three - came to Canada with her family in search of a better life. Aspiring to introduce the charm of Malaysian cuisine to her new country, Betty and her supportive husband began serving the most delightful Malaysian dishes at their humble Cafe D'Lite restaurant which has now become the most famous place in Vancouver for Hainanese chicken and Laksa noodle.
Today the legendary Café D’Lite is proud to honor its history by changing it's name to Mamalee™ – a unique and humble name more closely associated with the founder’s spirit and heritage. The Mamalee brand not only represents Betty’s passion for Malaysian culinary excellence but also a continuing commitment to an authentic Malaysian dining experience that is second to none.
