I've been going here for years. Strangers regularly compliment my cut and colour. That's all thanks to Simon. He makes me look and feel great every single time.
I went to Malkim hair salon to get my hair lightened blond, with a short dropped root. I really enjoyed my stylist, she was very friendly. However, my hair ended up more ombre. I figured I didn't describe the style I was going for so I though I'd give the place a second chance. I made another appointment in a couple months time. 20 minutes before my appointment the stylist cancelled. I was called by the manager Mallorie who scheduled me in with her the following Saturday. I show up on Saturday for my appointment with Mallorie and wait for 30 minutes before the receptionist told me there was a mix up and Mallorie wasn't coming. I Called the next day to make another appointment. As soon as the receptionist picked up she asked me to hold. I waited on hold for 10+ minutes then the call dropped. The salon never called me back. So, I ring back and try to get another appointment set up with Mallorie after the 'mix up' and am told Mallorie is retired. I know she is not retired as she owns the salon, and we have a mutual friend who confirmed she is 100% not retired. Finally I get an appointment with a new staff member. The appointment goes well, still not exactly the style I wanted but closer than the first time. I schedule another appointment with the new staff member for a couple months time. I knew my appointment was coming up soon but I couldn't remember the exact date so I called the salon to confirm. Apparently this staff member no longer works there and I was never called or notified she has left. If I did not call in, the salon would have never called me to let me know, and schedule me in with another stylist. I would have shown up and been turned away, again. I found the staff generally very friendly, salon has a good atmosphere, but so disorganized and confusing how a business could drop the ball so badly on a client. I have exhausted my attempts with this salon and will not be making another appointment after writing this essay.
Its a super place. Well maintained for clients COVID protection. Friendly staff. My stylist is Simon and I'm always pleased with his care and professionalism. One suggestion, paper cups for a possible throat tickle. Best Wishes for the Holiday Season. And, may 2021 be a better one.
I don't even know where to start. I went into Malkim to talk about having some colour fixed that I had done elsewhere a few days prior. Immediately, the girl working at reception and one of the stylists where kind, considerate and did whatever they could to help. They recommended I have Mallory, who is one of the owners, do my hair. Mallory is one of the most kind people I have ever met, and in terms of a hair dresser, she is open to listening to whatever you want to have done, but will tell you if it is something that is just not realistic. She is honest about how the outcome will be, and the price was EXTREMELY reasonable. I used to pay $350+ to have the exact same thing done to my hair that I had done at Malkim. Mallory even came in on a day the studio wasn't open to make sure my hair was fixed in a timely matter. I have been on a HUNT for a good hair studio in Guelph and I will now trust Malkim and Mallory with my hair forever! I highly recommend.
Mallory was amazing. She was very enthusiastic, gave me suggestions about what she thought would best suit me and my hair type and asked me at every step if I was OK with the process. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxed and I really enjoyed being there. I am an anxious person by nature and rarely feel comfortable with people so this is quite something. I got my hair coloured there and I loved it and I am very, very picky!! I would definitely recommend both Mallory and the salon. Congrats on such a wonderful place! I hope it continues to do very well :
Kate has made me love my hair again! She always has great advice and the salon has a trendy but friendly atmosphere. Been going there a few years now and couldn't imagine going anywhere else to get my hair cut.
I'm somewhat new to Guelph and wasn't sure where to get a hair cut. I asked three of my colleagues, and all three recommended Malkim, so I decided to give it a try. First, I had my eyebrows tweezed by Veronica, who was very friendly and genuinely passionate about eyebrows. I then had my hair trimmed and bangs styled by Alex. I was thoroughly pleased with the results. I thought that the price was fair given the quality of their work. To be honest, this is the best haircut I've had in a while! I highly recommend Malkim!
I had the pleasure of scheduling a first-time appointment for colour with Courtney! I loved the vibe I got from the moment I first walked into the salon - the staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was undeniably welcoming. We talked about the tone I was looking to achieve, I showed her some pictures and felt immediately confident and comfortable in her vision matching with mine. I'll admit, I'm a very particular and anxious client when it comes to hair services, so the fact that she made me feel so at ease so quickly was an accomplishment in itself, lol. The entire experience was wonderful - she can hold a great convo but also gets the hint when you just want to close your eyes and zen out in silence. And the end result? AMAZING. Courtney is a true master of her craft, her work was even better than what I had envisioned and even BETTER than the photos I had shown her! She absolutely nailed it. All in all, I 110% recommend Malkim to anyone in this city and specifically Courtney for anyone looking to have their colour done! She will blow you away with her talent!!
Staff is friendly and skilled. The owner treats the staff exceptionally well and the staff all seem to reciprocate the sentiment. The environment is very stylish, bright and welcoming. I have always enjoyed my time here and loves my hair. I also bring my kids to get their hair cut and the staff is wonderful with them.
The team at Malkim are very skilled hair colourists and hair stylists. They carefully took me from medium/dark brown to platinum blonde in a manner that maintained my hair's health as best as possible...and it looked amazing. I never thought I could go blonde but they did it! They are experts at what they do and are friendly as well. I love going to see them and always leave feeling rejuvenated and very happy. Great atmosphere, great people, book an appointment here if you love your hair.
