One of the two options you have for Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine on Victoria street. The nasi Lemak was okay, nothing stands out. The same can be said for the hokkien mee. The Kam heong chicken is great, the sauce is a little spicy, tasty and very fragrant. Portion wise is very generous. Food - 6 Service - 7 Vibe - 7 Price - $$ Vegetarian options: Options available Parking: Street parking
The food is absolutely delicious and the owner and staff are welcoming, friendly and cheerful. Generous servings is a bonus and insanely quick in serving the dishes. Dishes devoured are, fish head curry soup has thin vermicelli rice noodles, king prawns in Golden egg yolk, stir fried mixed veggies in mild spicy sauce and salted fish/chicken fried rice. An authentic Malay cuisine taste. Highly recommend if you're after a satisfying meal night out with friends and family.
Food was amazing very authentic, reasonably priced. Large portions. Highly recommended for groups of friends and family for a meal out. From presentation to taste Food: 5/5
great service, look at that laksa — so vibrant and tasty and HUUUGE. couldn’t fault the food, it was all amazing and such generous servings. the staff were helpful also when we were being indecisive in ordering — will be back asap
Tried the new spot, was disappointed with the wat tan hor noodles but seafood seemed just barely undercooked, no charring on the noodles.. staff there were rude and not friendly at all. Will probably no return for a while.. the fish head noodles were OK though and unique as we don't get that much here in Melbourne.
Victoria St has an excellent Malaysian restaurant. The fish head curry noodles is huge and full of fish not just bones. Get the laksa instead if you want something more familiar. Golden egg yolk king prawns are bursting with flavour for those who know this salty coating - the fried wonton skins it comes with are crisp and rich too. Mee goreng and char keuy teow are also good. Approved by my discerning Malaysian parents.
Ordered the hor fan combination flat noodle in creamy egg sauce and deep fried lotus root. It’s a very big serving and I only managed to eat half and packed the rest for dinner : Taste is authentic, however it’s a bit salty for me. Clean and spacious, and service is great and food didn’t take too long to arrive.
Tested the waters at Malaya this evening for a late weeknight dinner. It’s part of Pacific Seafood BBQ and linked by a doorway at the back. Place was empty which wasn’t a great sign but was feeling adventurous. The service was alright but slightly pushy. We order the CKT and Hainan chicken rice and both very tasty. I recommend checking this place out if you’re in the hood. We will be back maybe for takeaway Dietary restrictions: Catered for allergies
Fantastic new addition to Victoria Street. Welcoming staff and everything was spotless. The food was absolutely delicious and generous serves. Tried the Deep Fried Lotus Root entree, Vegetarian Mee Goreng and Sweet & Sour Pork on Rice - it was all amazing! We will definitely be back to try more of the tasty Malaysian food.
My friend and I visited there late afternoon and it was one of the few places open and looked clean and welcoming!! The food was well portioned and quickly served as well as being delicious! We enjoyed nasi goreng, calamari and salt and pepper fried lotus root
