Scenic, private sites, most on the river with mountain views. Fire pits, huge picnic tables, pit toilets, trash barrels, no hookups. Paved road and flat, paved parking at each site. Great for dry camping rv's, a few sites were tents only. Very cold at night in early September, but hardly any neighbors this time of year either. Lots of hiking trails along Icicle Rd, most of them intermediate to strenuous level. Plenty of places to stop along Icicle Rd to just take in the incredible views. Only 15 minutes to town (and cell service).

Hot and buggy this time of year. Sounds of the creek are awesome. The stars are great and the night time brought relief from the heat. We played in the water to fend off the heat. The bathrooms are the worst, the ammonia smell is suffocating so don't camp near them. Bring your own toilet paper. After paying for our site someone either stole our check out of the pay box or the site host lost it. The host, Rob, threatened my wife with calling a sheriff if she didn't pay again. He escalated the situation quick. That meant driving all the way back to Leavenworth to get cash. I suggest paying in person because Rob admitted that it was easy to slip the envelopes out of the pay box. I'm not sure how this was our fault.

We stayed in an awesome "double site" on the left loop. Had a creek running right through it, with huge felled logs spanning the banks. The site had a ton of privacy from the other sites, and backed up to nothing but forest. Our friends stayed in a double spot on the right loop, and it had closer neighbors (but nothing like a state campground) and backed right up to a much larger creek/river. Overall this campground was great, and we will be looking to stay here again next time we camp in the Leavenworth area.

2 years ago we stayed in the upper loop of this campground. In a dual site beside/between the dual camp hosts. One camp host did most of the work the other was a pure jerk. I rarely say that about people but he was just a grump. There was a HUGE group from some Master's program that weekend that should have been in a group campground but was bending the rules. This lead to the hosts not being able to control the noise. The host did not keep the vault toilet clean or filled with TP (we had to ask the host for a roll and he told me to do the install myself, ISN'T THAT HIS JOB?) He also threw the TP at me from his camper which he didn't even get off of his chair. One roll was supposed to fulfill the needs from 7pm until 10 am the next morning for well over 70 people, you do the math. Other than the one host, the campground was nice. The toilets needed extra cleaning because of the overload and the host needs to be WAY more friendly. I would stay again but not in a site near the host.
