Clean up crews are onsite clearing the trails, thank you! These photos are from the Barred Owl trail this morning. There are large sections of fallen trees you need to traverse and areas where the trail is completely covered and easily lost. This is a very advanced hike and hikers should be vigilant using this trail until clean up is complete. There are lots of unstable overhead trees as well.
Long Sault Conservation Area Hiked the Eastern Bluebird Trail in the summer. Trail is a mix of forest, hills and open field. You have to pay for parking.
I went for a sunday morning hike in the Long Sault Conservation Area Some parts of the left hand side trail are closed approx. 4-4.5 km in length Covered 10.5 kilometers in 2 hours and 12 minutes Low elevation Bicycle friendly, although saw only 2 people with cycles, perhaps due to the low temperature Roots and rocks in some part of the trail $6 parking, you can pay using card or coin Dog friendly, must be on leash Washroom available Restrooms: Washroom available Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly, must be on leash
Great conservation area. Still very snowy and mucky this time of year, butt the trails are wide, fairly well marked and the forest is wonderful. Dogs are welcome, but of course should be on leash. And proper pet owners pick up after their pets....
You may find beautiful trails for hiking, biking, and in winter cross country skiing. Parking lot has $6 flat rate 2022. There are outhouse style toilets. It's an absolutely enjoyable area that will make you want revisit it again.
Absolutely beautiful conservation area no matter what time of year! Tall towering trees, gentle rolling hills, benches along the way for rest stops! I just love how the sun beams through the trees and illuminates everything! my favourite trail is the barred owl loop! Would be a bonus to have a garbage bin for doggie bags etc at the north entrance concession 10 & Avery my favourite place for a nature walk!
Good trails and large area. We took the owl trail. It said advanced but it was fine. Signs said there was option for timed parking at $3, but price is now fixed at $6 for the whole day. Beware of using your credit card, I had an unauthorized transaction of $500 the next day and I never used it anywhere else that week. Also, cyclists can use this trail too.
Well maintained set of trails. We did the Barred Owl and Cottontail rabbit trails. Even on a very sunny day the hike is really enjoyable as the trails go through a canopy of large trees. Beatiful flora and fauna. Didn't encounter any wildlife. Lots of poison ivy, take care.
Lovely trails. Everyone seemed respectful, dogs were on leash. Some of the hikes are quite challenging, which is great. There is a $6 parking fee.
Beautiful forest to hike through. A good variety of trails - most are fairly easy and some are a little hillier. A good range of lengths from a couple of KM’s to about 7-8 on the longest trails. Scenery is really nice. Plenty of parking.
