The ambience is nice and lively. It has a very rustic feel to it. We tried the enchiladas. They were tasty but the portion was small. And mind you, the chicken stuffing is on top so the enchiladas itself do not have any meat. We also tried the Malaysian curry bowl which was okay. It had an after taste that I wasn’t sure I liked. The server was very sweet and considerate.
A huge hall with high tables, bar stools and booths. They have long desks for bigger groups and TVs to watch sports on. The crunchy chicken sandwich was good and leaned towards a tangy flavour. The Local burger which was on Happy Hours was loaded with cheese and dropped sauce all over my hand in my attempt to eat. The yam fries were good but very zealously salted which left a heavy taste on the palate. The dip with a citrusy twist was great.
Our first time in Calgary and we were looking for a bite in the early afternoon. LOCAL had a great selection of appetizers, mains, and drinks. Service was excellent. The ambiance was great too- great place to people watch! Highly recommend LOCAL Public Eatery.
Local is great for accommodating big groups. We went here for a flames playoff game and the energy was awesome. Food is really good for the price, and the location down town makes it easy to hop around to other locations as well.
First time in downtown Calgary, and we came across LOCAL after strolling around the mall. It ended up being a good pick. The service was great, friendly and accommodating. The potatoes were especially delicious. They have a solid beer list, as well. Go check it out!
We were surprised that the food was was delicious! The staffs were super friendly and nice. We brought our dog there and he got a lot of attention! We definitely come back again!
Had a steak with fries. The sauce on steak was absolutely tasty Steak was also well prepared and as I expected. They had only one cider which was left with no choices. The staff was friendly and outdoor seating was awesome.
If you're looking for a great patio on Stephen Ave, look no further. One of the few that's open for brunch with plenty of room and the right location to get the morning sun without being blinded. You can get breakfast and a drink clameye for under $20. I'll be back the next chance I get for sure.
Came downtown to try somewhere different for lunch or brunch. Stopped here and am glad I did. Had the Brisket hash with two poached eggs. First off, when it arrived the smell was intoxicating. Beautiful aroma wafting off the plate. The flavours continued. Brisket was fantastic. Eggs perfectly poached. The Hash nicely done with caramelized onions, potatoesa nice size and done just right I may have found my go-to hash.
I've never actually been here in person. I got food from here for the first time through a food delivery app. My team at work ordered food for everyone through the app. Given it was a big group order, I put my name on the delivery instructions along with a kitty face to help me find my food when the order arrived. In a fantastic misunderstanding, the restaurant sent a Stella Artois and drew a kitty face on the can. In essence, I unintentionally had alcohol which I don't even drink sent to work. The food was great I had a LOCAL burger with fries, but it's the restaurant's incredible service that led me to write this review. Huge shout out to whoever drew the kitty face on the can. Thank you for the great lunch and great story!
