I normally came to the clinic without appointment and was naturally shocked to see the sign posted saying that they take patients with appointment today only.nnLuckily, the lady took me in without any hassle. This made me feel that they took patient’s interest at heart and do their best to accommodate us. Really appreciated!nnAlso, I have a very tiny vein which is hard to find. There were occasions that I was punched three times and the nurse still could not draw a blood. I mentioned this to the nurse and requested a small needle. Grace comforted me and commented she did not find me any different. Before I know it, the needle found its way and two bottles of blood were drawn and done! I was so impressed!!!!nnAsk for Grace if you’ve a tiny vein like me. She is the best!nnThanks again, Grace !
My most recent experience was supposed to be 2 hours for lactose intolerance test but ended up being a 3 hour appointment as the staff went above and beyond to help me out. I didn't realize that I was supposed to come to this appointment very hydrated and to have drank a lot of water. I ended up doing the 12 hour fast prior to appointment without drinking any water. The day before appointment; I also only had about 3-4 cups of water all day which is not enough as 8 is usually the recommended amount. I had no idea that drinking enough water helps improve blood flow and make blood thinner rather than too thick. My blood was too thick due to being dehydrated. Thus, when it came to doing the blood tests, the first test went great. The second was done by a second nurse who found it a struggle as they also couldn't find my veins properly due to my veins being barely visible. They were only able to collect a small sample of blood. The nurse asked me to go lie down as I had started to feel slight feelings of dizziness. The third blood sample was a struggle as well. Even after finding the vein, no blood was coming out. They had to try my wrist instead which worked but only a small sample of blood came out. Then, a different nurse tried using a warm bag of water to help the blood flow to improve before the last blood sample gets taken. However, unfortunately this didn't ended up not helping either. For the 4th sample, they had to end up trying my other wrist which worked but only provided a small sample of blood as well. Overall, it was a process that took at least 4-5 nurses to help me out in total. In other words, it was a process that took almost the whole team to help out and make it happen. The dedication to make the test come to an end and make it work was amazing to see and I was very happy with their patience and determination. In particular, the nurse that did an excellent job and was able to successfully complete the test was Donna. Also, wait times for walk in clinic are pretty good as well and go by fast. Will definitely recommend others to this clinic and overall a great experience. I have been here multiple times before as well and always a great experience. I especially love the walk in option as I don't always remember to book an appointment ahead of time.
This location is a few minutes away from Dynacare lab. Saturday morning, this one is a better choice as they just updated the starting hour from 8 to 7. The main drawback is the parking closeby is not free, unlike the Dynacare.
Alot of patients walking-in had a wait time of 30-45 minutes before they were directed into designated phlebotomy rooms where the waiting time could be another 15 minutes for a nurse to check-in. The receptionist at the desk was calling out for patients who have an appointment booked for the time slot but were waiting in the walk-in queue, to come forward with their appointment ID and OHIP card. Overall it's a pleasant experience but with huge waiting time specially for walk-in patients, and this could be due to its proximity to Credit Valley Hospital.
Now I know why this location only has a 2.8 rating. Had an ultrasound booked and was early so I went to get my blood done and ended up standing in line for almost 10 minutes. After 5 min Pharm said she would be with me in a min and then continued for the next 5 min doing what she was doing...4 other people lined up behind me...I finally said I didn't have all day to wait and walked out. Won't go back!
