Very good food, I had a grilled chicken sandwich with a slice of eggplant and mushrooms, very delicious. I also tried their Caesar salad, it was very creamy and yummy. Will definitely go back for more. That was the food. On a separate note, I think people who are working here can be more friendly, a smile goes a long way.
The fettuccine alfredo was so disappointing! Completely bland, clearly the chef did not taste the dish before sending it out : the wife ate the chicken, which also wasn't that great. HOW COULD THEY CHARGE FOR FOOD LIKE THIS. I DON'T GET THE REVIEWS. The calzone is definitely a go to here...it's worth easily 4 stars. The dough was fresh and the sauce is so tasty. What a waste of money for the pasta though. Paid $37.50 for both, should have gone somewhere else. I would not recommend this place. Sad :
The name sometimes is the reason you stop by a place. Decided to give them a try but I just went for the pizza and it was fantastic. The steak sandwiches looked fantastic as well and they're known for their veal sandwich I guess. Has the back of the employee's t-shirt said best veal in town. Frank the owner was very nice and friendly I will definitely go back and try a veal sandwich
Great place with a nice atmosphere. Food is awesome. Watching the chef behind the counter reminded me of Marche downtown Toronto where they cook in front of you. Keep up the good work also the staff is very friendly and polite. Great experience. Thank you Recommended dishesVeal Sandwiche, Sandwiches, Chicken Sandwich
The best Italian foods in Newmarket! I tried Pizza and pasta a few times and each time I loved it, pizza crust is crispy and the pasta sauce is just right! The owner is also so nice and friendly, we already are regulars and I will recommend this place to everyone.
had our VP at work bought full tray of Penne Alla Vodka you can also add chicken if want for our Christmas party had some super delicious that my co-workers was raving about it at work...even to the point we were fighting to bring the left overs home lol....I had to go there and get my own half tray of Penne Alla Vodka literally the best homemade pasta I ever had at a restaurant SOOOO good! Staff are wonderful and friendly ^_^ definitely will recommended this restaurant to everyone who wants yummy homemade pasta!!!
The food is delicious! It was our first time ever eating here. We’re from the U.S.A and this was the best Italian food we’ve ever had!
Yes Let us be frank... very frank indeed. This is an "Italian" style sandwich and pizza shop on Davis Drive In Newmarket right near a McDonalds and Wendys/Tim Hortons. It was the crack of noon and they advertised on a billboard as the best veal sandwich in town. A guy outside said all the sandwiches are good but he just was at Mr Sub and he didn't eat veal out of principles. So I ordered the chicken sandwich which comes in at $9.95 and any toppings are extra. The owner or worker told me that fully loaded this was around $16. That's a bit steep if you ask me so I stuck to the chicken sandwich with no additional toppings. He had ONE piece of chicken ready in the warmer tray and proceeded to dunk it in sauce and put it on the bun. This is one tiny piece of breaded chicken. I am used to California Sandwiches and by comparison this is almost the same price and maybe half the chicken as California Sandwiches. You are basically getting an $8.50 tiny piece of chicken and a $1 bun with a smidge of sauce. This is perhaps the biggest rip off in the sandwich venues available on Davis Drive or in fact anywhere. Absolutely a terrible value and a fairly run of the mill sandwich. It is basically a giant bun with a touch of sauce and small piece of chicken. Clearly I am not the only one unimpressed since this was 12 noon and there was only one other person in the store. Everywhere else in the mall was jammed. I would highly suggest people avoid this place since its as easy as falling off a rock to find a better product and value. Popeyes even with the raised prices is cheaper and bigger and better. Even McDonalds with the new Chicken Big Mac at around $7 you are getting two pieces of chicken. Just look at the photo. You go to California and the chicken is falling out of the bun. Even Pizza Nova at just over $10 includes hot or sweet peppers and its not all bun. Let's Be Frank.. if I wanted a bun sandwich I could just go home. In no way worth the money REALITY check to owner. ALL the other real Italian places make their food from scratch. California Sandwiches has been around since the 1960's. The Nonas in the back used to be making the stuff from scratch since forever. Lots of places in Vaughan make it from scratch. But they don't gouge on price and skimp on portion size.
I enjoyed this place. If you're looking for real food we were planning on having McDonalds, you'll enjoy this place. They let me customize my order. I had veal cutlets with a salad and it was delicious! They were very friendly and happy. You can tell the owner loves his food.
If you have allergies to dairy or anything else, don’t risk coming here. No matter how many times you tell them to make something dairy free, they will continue to put it on. This has happened more times then I’d like to admit because I kept giving chances, they just don’t listen and seem very offended when you confirm with them if they made it dairy free. The food is good, the pastas are prepared while you wait but it’s not worth the risk and it’s so disappointing to get home and not be able to eat the food you paid $$$ for because they doused your allergy all over it.
