Service and food were both excellent. The food menu is well rounded in fish focused and progressive fish cooking seldom seen in Ottawa. Prices are fair and food and wine will keep you coming back. Go with a group of four and order the whole menu, you won’t be disappointed.
I don’t know what else to say besides it’s elegant, beautiful, tasty and calm. The atmosphere is everything we look for when going out for a nice dinner. 10/10 zero complaints. We chose to sit at the bar. We prefer sitting beside each other as opposed to directly facing one another. The bartender who was fairly new was great- they kept with engaging conversation and we really didn’t know they were long term staff until they mentioned it. 25% tip. Thank you! The food… wow. Did not disappoint. The fish was so light and buttery but not the buttery that is filling and heavy. Zucchini… I didn’t know I liked zucchini until I had it here. It wasn’t squishy, it was perfectly tough but fully cooked. Overall, can’t wait to come back. 5 stars. Tip: The price for your whole butterfly fish is $6 cheaper on your online menu ;
Great cocktails, food, service, and ambiance. Four stars only because the music was on the loud side, but still almost gave it five. Rather than having mains, we ordered a dozen oysters and a bunch of appetisers. The service was very well paced, bringing one or two dishes at a time. We had two from the regular menu - fish beignets and fish scotch eggs. Both were great, and served with excellent accompanying sauces. We also had two from the daily specials - a salmon neck and fish “trimmings” with crispy rice. These were even better than the first two! Highly recommended. It’s a small place, so make reservations.
Hands down best spot for seafood in Ottawa. Service is excellent, servers are knowledgeable and extremely attentive. Seasonal rotation of specials gives the place an elevated touch. Every ingredient is well thought out. Highly recommend almost everything on the menu.
We were compelled to eat here after reading the wonderful story about them in Edible Ottawa. Everything was excellent. I am not exaggerating when I write that I had the best fish dish of my life. It was sublime. Charming spot owned/run by charming people, their enthusiasm utterly contagious. We'll be back!
Came here on a weekday evening before a show and ordered the Cod Scotch Egg, Glazed dry aged salmon collar special, LPB Fish & Chips and the Sidecar and Baby One More Time! cocktails. Our favourite of the night was the cod scotch egg. The cod chorizo was seasoned well and paired nicely with the pesto. The salmon collar was a nice treat and cooked to tender perfection but I think pairing it with some fresh and peppery greens would balance the fatty-ness of the fish. The fish and chips was also cooked well, super crispy and not greasy with a delicious tartar sauce. The kitchen timing for the fish and chips might've been a bit off since the fish was piping hot but the fries were a bit cold. I've never had fried fluke but it was a great flaky fish for this dish. I'm personally not entirely sold on the bone-in fish concept for fish and chips since chomping on smaller ends of the bones got mixed in with the crispy batter. Overall, this new sustainable seafood spot has great vibes, great drinks and uses quality ingredients. The music is on point and we loved that our bill came in a Titanic CD case. Oh the nostalgia! A few things to improve on but I'm sure they'll continue to improve since they just opened recently.
Very thoughtfully designed menu, weekly update depending on the catch of the week, specialize in locally captured seafood and sourced produce; contemporary French cuisine with a subtle influence of southeastern Asian flavor Thai or Vietnamese. Small portions but delicate and satisfying. The tuna bacon in the tomato salad was smoked and aged in house, and the garlic and pepper oil dressing brought the dish to a different level; the dipping sauce made of various types of peppers and roasted nut came with the beignets was the highlight of the dish; the butterfly sea bream was slightly grilled but still maintained the fresh flavor from the wild sea, the Spatzle tossed in the fish oil was very flavorful. Overall a 4.8/5 experience! The washroom needs more work. P.s. More tables on the back where is much quieter.
Ahhh Le Poisson Bleu. What a great catch! On May 28th, we had the pleasure to discover this new restaurant. Open for over three 3 months now. When discovering a new restaurant, I always want to try a little of everything on the menu. Being four guests, it was not difficult to do so: The chacuterie maison which I highly recommend with its cod tongue terrine, the yellowfin tartare, a fine dish that leaves you wanting more, the Fogo island squid with a little spicy touch that excites the taste buds, oysters from Prince Edward Island, very fresh but a little expensive, excellent fries and the LPB salad which added a nice balance to this feast. The house cocktails were excellent and the price more than reasonable. The same goes for the wine list, which is limited to a few choices but whose price and quality is outstanding. Very attentive service. A very inviting restaurant that will undoubtedly become a must in Ottawa. Kudos to the entire team. Au plaisir.
Amazing food and the best playlist! I love that they have seasonal specials. Pleasantly surprised by their duck confit. The first time we had it, there was a good amount of veg for freshness but the second time around I found there were fewer radishes which didn't counterbalance the duck as well. Their Fogo island squid and beignets slap, as well as the Baby One more Time if you are feeling a drink on the sweeter side. I usually go as a party of 2 and split a main dish with 2-3 sides/apps and the both of us leave full so I find the portions fair for the prices. We only had room for dessert once which was what I recalled to be a Pavlova with figs and it was very enjoyable, a great way to end the night. I do believe the dessert menu also changes but I hope to see it pop up again! Parking: Parking at the rear free as well as on the street metered
A cute little spot off Somerset. We went for dinner, lights were extra dim sometimes hard to see what we were eating! The bartender fixed us Nice mocktails! Everything we ordered was great.. from the bread and butter to the crudo very flavourful and then we shared the seabass.. very nicely seasoned and we loved it! Dessert was a bit of disappointment.. we were their last customers for the night and we felt like they threw in whatever they had in the fridge into our berry meringue dessert it has apples and pears and only one strawberry! When we asked why the pears the waitress just said we added that’s xtra for you! Well we never asked for that and it kind of made it a fruit salad lol! Service wasn’t the nicest.. but we definitely had a great meal.
