I've found them to always be very helpful for me, as a landlord. They always clarify the situation and advise me of possible actions I can take. They do take a long time to answer the phone though....

Not very helpful. I told them my dryer hasn't been working for months and I've had to pay excessive fees to dry laundry and they said that if it still sort of works then it works and I have no complaint. I also called to see if a lease-take over signed document was legally binding because the people taking over my lease are getting cold feet because I offered them an incentive of $1000 I can't pay for in one month as that's half my cheque and the other half goes to rent. Over the phone a payment plan was agreed to but they want their money faster now and are threatening to not take the property. I'm not a corporation with that kind of money at my disposal so now I have to live off kraft dinner for the next month or two until I make up the cost. The advisory board simply told me to get a lawyer and that she couldn't tell me whether a contract between two tenants was legally binding or not. If they decide not to take the place on the 31st it puts me in a very tight situation where I have to pay a $3500 penalty when I could have found someone else who would have allowed me to pay the full amount by Oct 6th. The tenant knows I'm in a bind which is why they are giving me a hard time. They agreed to wait until I get my damage deposit back on the 11th for $600 and the rest on Oct 6th and now they are pressuring me for money sooner, UGH. If I can't get answers from the Advisory Board what are they good for?

As far as i am concerned this place only helps landlords not tenants ... I see them put on more work shops for landlords then tenants .... We need to step up and start helping the tenants. Not the landlords .... hi everyone . i am going to try and make a voice for tenants in edmonton i am going to a city council meeting , and see if we can be heard . i belive that tenants should be heard and have more info on the by-laws . as of right now there is more help to landlords .

I contacted the office for assistance with my right as a landlord and my tenants rights. Margorie was very helpful and professional. She was direct and easy to understand. She encouraged me to attend a program being put on through the office. I will do this so I can be a good landlord and make sure I follow the rules of the law in regards to owning a rental property.
