Lake Yellowstone Hotel Dining Room

This is probably the best food in the park. Better than old faithful or canyon areas. We ate here two nights. The food is good, but don't expect actual fine dining. The bison tenderloin is good and the lobster sliders are one of the best values on the menu. The breakfast buffet has a pretty great spread and includes cold smoked salmon for a really low price.

In the center of the national park. You can reach the different sights very good from there. If you're in the hotel, you'll have the chance to get a great view to Lake Yellowstone. If you're in a cabin right next to the hotel, it's kind of pure and simple living. But the cabins have a shower and a heating for cold days. The restaurant and bar are very good. You'll get a premium continental breakfast. After a long day in Yellowstone park you should take one of the typical things on the menu like bison, deer or having a whiskey from Montana or Wyoming. The service of the hotel and the restaurant is very pleasant. You can have nice little talks with students sharing their summer holidays there and hotel employees telling you about the best hidden spots in the park. You shouldn't wonder if there are bisons just walking around the hotel area. It's just nature. The only negative thing, like every rest in and around the park, it's very expensive.

Eaters beware! The only good thing I will say about this restaurant is it has a fantastic view. The service and food was horrible and I rarely write a bad review, but this deserved one for the weary travelers who think that they are getting a fine dining experience. I ordered a pear salad with salmon. There were about ten lettuce leafs, half a pear with no taste and the salmon was thrown on the salad in chunks like it came from a can. My husband ordered a burger which he said tasted fine but his fries were cold and had a day old taste to them. When we sat down no one noticed us for 20 minutes and the waitress had to be summoned over. When my salad came there was no dressing on the side and no bread came either which was on the menu. The waitress never checked back to see if the food was good and when we told the manager he said, "He is not responsible for the food on the menu" All I can say is WOW and not in a good way.

Had a great dining experience here at the start of October, food was great. The lamb was cooked perfectly and tender, potatoes were done great as well. Waiters are very nice and the one we had answered all of our questions, even if he had to go ask managers. Will go again one day.

Loved the views from the lodge over the lake. Food and service were top notch! Grab a local beer from the bar also!
