Michelin mentioned Mexican food. It's amazing. The menu is fully vegan and so I needed to eat more to feel full. I loved the white mole and the hibiscus mushroom tacos. The only dish I wouldn't get again is the pineapple dessert which is too dominated by corn flavour for my tastes. Amazing food. Amazing cocktails. Great for a special event.
We came to La Bartola for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. For full disclosure, we are definitely not vegetarians and we didn’t realize that the menu was plant-based until we were seated. Anyways, we decided to give it a try and, it was actually worth it! The best part was that the dishes were not trying to emulate or “substitute” meat but, the ingredients showed their true nature and flavors. Pair that with a selection of delicious cocktails and you have a great experience. Also, our server was very nice and diligent, as well as the staff that we had the chance to exchange a few words with.
Perfect place to have a date night. First of all the food was great , the flavours were very unique, I'm not a vegan but I loved everything we tried. The drinks were so tasty and with a nice presentation, the service as well 10 out of 10, our server Paula was very friendly, attentive fast and patient. Highly recommended. They really do deserve to be in the Michelin guide, next year hopefully we'll see them with a Michelin star!
I recently dined at La Bartola for my wife's birthday and it was an exceptional experience. As vegetarians and foodies, we were thrilled to find a restaurant specializing in vegan Mexican cuisine. Every dish we tried was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Our server, who was also the Chef cum owner Ivan's wife, was amazing and added a personal touch to our dining experience. She was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations that perfectly suited our tastes. The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was perfect for a special occasion like my wife's birthday. In conclusion, I highly recommend La Bartola for anyone looking for delicious vegan Mexican cuisine. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch and I cannot wait to visit again. They truly made our dining experience unforgettable and we are grateful for their hospitality. Vegetarian options: lots of vegetarian options. in fact its all Vegan, Plant based. Dietary restrictions: They will be happy to take care of any dietary restrictions.
We didn’t realize this place was plant based until we got here, but we’re SO glad we came. The dishes are done really creatively, and everything was delicious. I will for sure be coming back here more often. The 10 pc taco platter is a good option; we got 2 of them for 4 people. All three desserts were 10/10.
The flavours of both the food and the cocktails were amazing. The moles were fantastic. Only negative is that we found they didn't provide enough tortillas especially considering we were sharing the dishes. Tortillas would have been an easy way to further fill us up considering it is a vegetarian restaurant
The place has a nice cozy vibe. There is small outdoor sitting at the back of the restaurant which is amazing. We tried the margaritas which were specials with lichee, guava and mango flavours and it was great. We also tried the chef’s special tacos which came with 3 different type of tacos of 2 each so in total 6 tacos. Both, the food and service was excellent. The place is slightly on the expensive side but is a must try.
La Bartola Michelin Bib Gourmand Award winner is the best gourmet Mexican Vegan restaurant in Toronto and possibly in all North America. The level of detail in every single dish and drink is a total sensory experience. This place has it all, the food, the ambience, the music, the service but most importantly the passion for food and an immense creativity in a well though menu. If you ever have the chance to assist to one of their secret dinners you will take away much more than a full and happy belly and paladar. Is definitely one of the top restaurants in the city. Do not hesitate to experience your first vegan meal with a real and wholehearted touch of Mexican Oaxacan gastronomic heritage.
Great vibe but the flavours of the food was not worth it. We are fans of vegan food but Bartola did not live up to our expectations. The guacamole lacked flavour, salt and lime. Consider adding chopped tomatoes, jalapeños and other condiments to improve the flavour of the guacamole. We had also ordered the mushroom tostada and I would say it was average. The cocktails were great and quite strong. Our server was very sweet and she explained/translated the ingredients very clearly to us. Overall a good restaurant but the food flavouring has significant opportunities for improvement.
La Bartola has a very unique and amazing variety of cocktails that I really wanted to learn to make and experience, so, for my girlfriend's birthday, I asked Juan, the owner of the establishment, if he could host a cocktail mixology session for us an hour before the restaurant opened. Juan was kind enough to help set this up, and we can safely say that we had the best birthday celebration and mixing class ever. Period. The bartenders were amazingly friendly and informative with the different cocktails and mixes, and we were even able to have a hands-on experience making the drinks. The establishment is also very beautiful and the atmosphere is an experience all on its own. I would highly La Bartola to all my friends and family. The food I had in a prior visit was also lovely and high quality. I will be coming back to taste more!
