L'intermarché Universel

I came here for my groceries for several years. The owners are great people. They also have a good range of options. Unfortunately, their prices have increased beyond reason, especially on frozen and packed products. I have found certain products to be more than 50% expensive on their regular price in relation to other Portuguese markets in the neighbourhood.

The cashiers are so rude and lazy: even though they're standing 2 behind the cash register, they won't pack your grocery, they rather stare at you doing it. And should you forget your carriage! They'll yell at you yelll as if you're a criminal . They really expect the customer to do their job . I usually prefer to support small businesses, however this is the exception, I won't be going there anymore. Who knows what they'll do next: ask for a tip?

Lovely couple who run this store: and it is especially great to shop here because the best fruits and vegetables are here.

Nice choices of italian and international products. Vegetables and meat are not expensive.

Great traditional corner supermarket. Great specials and very clean. But!!.... Besides the guys from the meat department. Complete lack of warmth and friendliness from the staff.Couple of friendly cashiers but others are cold and informal. Lack of will to develop friendly bonds with regulars. A hello with a smile wouldn't hurt.Specially when customers approach them with a polite greeting and smile.Just like other grocery stores.The other Intermarché on Mont-Royal is very much the same. The stagnating silence stands out. Other grocery stores are usually friendly and eager to help

Person at the deli just sliced 200 grams of meat into a round pile on one sheet and balled it up, wrapped it.

Oh the wonders of this hidden gem! The isles are narrow and tall but it is worth the squeeze. A small and potent neighbourhood grocery. They have everything Portuguese. A super fresh vegetable and herb section, a wonderours selection of Portuguese olive oils, olives, and sardeens. The best selection of vegan meats in the plateau, as well as an in-house real chorizo hanging in the back. A small couter in the back sells rotissery chicken and potatoes to go.

Small grocery store but they have everything you need and then some! They have specialty Portuguese products. They make their own chorizo delicious and sell pre-marinated pork for Bifana sandwiches. Yum! They have good prices on produce and a massive offering of different beers.

We arrived looking for pão de queijo a Brazilian bread cheese and they where selling for half the price, so yeah to that! Inter marche Universal has always a warmth reception, the personnel are great. My son was in a hurry to go to the toilet and they where kind enough to let us walk into the workers area. We always find the Brazilian goods we want and it is a great way to reduce homesickness.

L'InterMarché Universel is a perfect supermarket, especially for the Plateau. It has fresh vegetables, fruit, cheeses, meats... There are products from Europe, Asia, South America. Different types of flour for baking everything from pizza to patisserie. Organic food, household groceries. And the prices and staff are great. It's also super clean.
