Wife and i go there at least one in a month, price is ok, food was always decent but today we were served glass with lip gloss and our teriyaki chicken had taste from yesterday rice was cold and not fresh. Sushi was ok, but we had no enough tempura dip and it was thicker than usual. We were only guests at the store today. did not complain ,but we have Google for that right! I heard owner who is asked from pickup person about years of experience and owner answered it :35 years. Well he should new better how to check glass for lipstick stained and is rice old or freshly made
I went to Kitsaya a few times when I moved to the area in 2019 and fell in love. Great sushi, great price and great vibe. With covid, prices jumped significantly so we stopped ordering and tried other sushi places in the area. There was a deal today so we decided to order our OG fav sushi and have been really disappointed. The yam avocado roll is all yam and all mush, the spicy salmon has the tiniest bit of sauce spread in the roll and even the Wasabi is weak and boring. The quality has dropped steeply, and the prices are too high for the sad quality they deliver. We will continue to order at other restaurants.
Beef teriyaki was mostly fat. Very unappealing. When I mentioned it to the waitress she took it to the kitchen and later told me this was how they make it and it is expensive beef and I should eat it. They would not replace it for me. Poor service. I will not return
They're aburi is delicious! I tried the yam tuna roll, I loved it. Takoyaki aren't the best in townFood: 4/5
Ordered through Foodora as there was a promo. The rice was very over cooked/mushy. And the "very spicy roll" that was on special was hardly spicy at all; the so-called spicy tuna on top that I'm really not sure even had any tuna in it was not at all crunchy but just mushy as well. The rest of the ingredients in my rolls seemed fresh, though. If it weren't for the mushy rice and mushy "spicy" tuna I may give it another try. Rolls ordered: Crispy tuna delight roll Salmon, cucumber, cream cheese roll
The sushi here you cannot find everywhere. They have these flamed rolls called ABURI which are super delicious as well as the pressed OSHI sushi rolls! Many vegetarian options for me as well. Best quality sushis I've experienced in Vancouver with a lovely vibe atmosphere
Very mediocre sushi. Seriously mediocre, like this sushi is on par with the quality of grocery store sushi. The rice was very stale and very mushy at the same time. The quality of fish is also very low, one of the pieces of salmon nigiri literally felt like I was chewing into a raw piece of tough steak.
Excellent food, as always. Some of our party even reported their meal was even better than the normal 'great' sorry, I forgot what sizzling dish they had ordered. Service, however, was problematic. We had explained up front how we want the bill split. Right before ordering, pointed out to the server the members of each party and what they prefer. Fine the same way as we always do, and we come here at least once a year with the same party. When done, we got the bill, all mixed up and summed together. Repeated the request to the server, than a manager came to help but he said his system cannot do it and ended up with him giving us a calculator so we can split it as we had asked for. Weird ending to our lunch. If not for this, they would have gotten 5 stars.
I agree with the other reviews that the rice is mushy and not cooked very well. It also tastes so vinegary that pretty much all the sushi tasted the same even though I got three types of sushi rolls. Great thing is the sushi is quite big and very filling. They only do takeout during covid times.
Kitsaya sushi is a great, fast place to get sushi. It’s also remarkably well priced and I think you get exactly what you are paying for. I don’t quite understand why the fish isn’t sourced more locally, but it doesn’t dampen the experience for me. I frequent kitsaya a lot due to its relative proximity from my work, and it’s very consistent in its quality, and the two who work there are great dudes and are always a friendly face to see. My two favorites are the sushi special and the combo B with spicy mayo. For under 15$, 18 pieces of decent sushi can’t be beaten especially with a miso soup. I always look forward to work cause it means kitsaya sushi time.
