This was our first time trying Korean BBQ, We tried the beef, chicken, and pork belly & squid bulgogi! All the sides came in cute little containers with a nice big serving of plain rice on the side as well, would definitely recommend! Mine was under $20
Had the gamjatang for takeout on the recommendation of a friend. Wowow! What an incredible deal! You get a generous portion of neck bone highly prized for its tenderness and fat, seriously in a perfectly spicy broth. Perhaps a little rich to finish it all, but I prefer a smaller, more intense experience. In addition to the main dish, a side of rice and four small containers of seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and something else were provided. Each again had a very potent flavor. For instance, the sprouts were a bit acidic which paired very well with the rich broth. Now beyond the food, it is clear the restaurant cares deeply for its customers. The staff has all been vaccinated and were friendly, all containers were meticulously wiped down so that there was absolutely no leaking or mess, above average chopsticks and spoons were supplied. What a gem! Overall, Kimbaek is an absolute must try again!
A typical Korean restaurant right in downtown Winnipeg. Food menu is typical of Korean restaurants serving the usual menu. We ordered Gamjatang, pork, beef & chicken bulgogis & tteokboki. Banchan servings are a bit too small & are already portioned. Taste right around your usual Korean good cravings but not that outstanding. Price wise its around $-$$. All in all, place & food wasn’t too bad.
Everything was just okay, placed an order on a paper kiosk and waited for food delivered to your table. SMALLEST portion of side dishes I've ever had among different Korean restaurants in Winnipeg, nevertheless they charge you $2 for each if you need extra. I think it's my first time and also last time visit, because I don't wanna eat side dishes from previous customers' table, even though they seem packed and clean.
Can’t stop eating. We got beef bulgogi, bibim and beef bone soup, very delicious. Especially in the winter time, who doesn’t like warm soup. Definitely will come back again.
Edit; still my favorite food. The pork neck soup is hot! This place is not glamorous but it sure is good. L.A beef is so good.
I'm rating this place based only on the Gamjatang. This is a time consuming dish to make. If done too hastily, the meat become difficult to peel off the bone. I understand that most cannot dedicate time to this dish, however they do a good job of it. However, ill say that it isn't always 100%. Some days are better than others. If you need some Gamjatang, this is the place. You will not have to work as hard to de-bone the meat when compared to other places.
Ordered their grilled pork belly, and it was the smallest portion of grill pork i’ve ever seen, literally 10 thin, 2 finger size pieces and they charge $13.99 for it. I almost thought if they charge that much at least have the courtesy to put on the side some lettuce or samjang sauce for people to eat as ssam like in korea.
Absolutely blown away by the food! We ordered seafood pancake, kalbitang, gizzard, ddukbokki. Everything tasted absolutely amazing! I would've given 5star if it weren't for the waitress. She was not present at all, spoke rudely, I had to go to the kitchen and knock on the door to ask her to get our checks. I wanted to order more side dishes but she never came out! ... Always on her phone. If you want authentic Korean food... This place is awesome... Service? Not so much.
Good food for good prices. Atmosphere is no frills. You can serve yourself water and tea ?. At least we did it and they have never said we can't. Food comes with sides. You can ask for a refill sometimes they don't mention it, but it doesn't cost extra. Service is friendly. When I checked the website the menu looked out of date. I recommend the hot bulgogi soup. This seems to be the best deal. You get a decent amount of beef. Sometimes I'll have cravings for this. Really enjoyed the japchae as well. I'd skip #9 unless you're really craving it. Both me and my friend found it much less flavorful. The bowl was different than the other bowl and the serving size larger, but it looked less appetizing. 31 is pretty pricey and I didn't feel you got that much meat... That's the kalbitang.
