Kerrisdale Little Owls Preschool is a wonderful place for our children to learn and bond together in a kind and nurturing environment.
Kerrisdale Little Owls Preschool is a wonderful place for our children to learn and bond together in a kind and nurturing environment. The program at the Kerrisdale Little Owls Preschool reflects the belief that children learn through play. The teachers strive to provide a rich and stimulating environment that promotes the development of the whole child including the social, cognitive, physical, emotional and creative self.
The Kerrisdale Little Owls Preschool is a non-profit, parent-run preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. While
parent volunteers take on the jobs of the president, secretary, registrar, treasurer and secretary, the preschool’s two Early Childhood Educators are responsible for providing the children’s program.
Over the years, this preschool has earned a reputation for being one of the most popular early learning facilities in the Vancouver Area.
Both of our teachers at the preschool were raised and educated in the British school system, and have incorporated the best of the British with the best of contemporary North American Early Childhood Education practices.
The preschool advocates a ‘whole child’ learning approach with emphasis not only on preparing their children for academic excellence, but also teaching the more fundamental skills of socialization, group activities and individual development in a stimulating and enjoyable environment.
Emphasis is focused on language skills, communication between peers and with adults, and appropriate behavior as individuals and as part of groups. Weekly themes enhance the learning experience and areas such as science, innumeracy and nutrition are introduced at an age appropriate level so that the children regard these subjects as interesting and fun. Regular field trips and in-class presentations by outside groups enhance the children’s scope of understanding the world around them and physical activities such as games and ice-skating encourage the children’s physical development and complement their cognitive development.
The Kerrisdale Little Owls Preschool is a non-profit, Parent-Run preschool.
By being Parent Run, parent volunteers help reduce the overall cost of running a preschool by taking on the various administrative tasks that are required in running a preschool. By doing so, the preschool can best leverage the unique skill set that our teachers have developed and honed over the years and place their training and focus directly on providing an enriching children’s program.
As a parent at the Little Owl’s Preschool, your involvement level is largely up to you. While we do have minimum levels of involvement, which equate to roughly 1 hour a month, you are free to take charge of arranging an event that may be near to your heart or lend your expertise in budgeting, website design or what have you.
What are the Responsibilities of the Parents at Little Owl’s Preschool?
At the Little Owls Preschool, parents are more welcome to take on a larger role, but are only required to do the following, which totals roughly 1 hour of work a month:

3) Clean dishes (roughly once every 3 months)
