Amazing!! The sushi was very tasty and fresh we ended up ordering more after our set menu was done chef was very friendly and overall a wonderful experience. Will definitely come back! Also, some reviews mentioned how the restaurant had a smell etc - not at all! The restaurant was very clean and pleasant to be in! Highly recommend.
Wouldn't return, but worth trying. A fun little experience, and an inexpensive way to enter omakase. I do feel a little baited as photos as of 2021 make the nigiri far larger than they actually are, plus $100pp after tax/tip/drink tips it into less accessible territory. For those who have been to other higher end Omakase either in Toronto, Vancouver or Japan, be nice and keep in mind the price point offered at $69.5. That's all I'll say. For those thinking about a cosy, intimate atmosphere, where you can interact with your chef and enjoy the evening - go ahead and book without hesitation. I think this is a fantastic idea and want to see more of these places. There is delight in some slightly different offerings, including house smoked salmon and firefly squid, as well as traditional pieces like Akami/Otoro. Seats 6, doesn't take AMEX.
Kaito was a quality omakase sushi experience but overall atmosphere could be improved. Small intimate space where you can watch the chefs every move. Sake pairing was lovely. Delicious sea urchin available for an added cost.
Kaito offers great quality sushi, fresh and vibrant taste. A dinner of $300 for two people, that includes tax, tips, and the exclusive urchin and snail sushi. We were served by chef who is the owner, he’s genuine and keeps the conversation going which i prefer in this setting dont expect a lousy, talkative service: overall the experience is decent that I would definitely recommend friends
We were the only ones at the restuarant at the time so it was like having a private chef. The fish was fresh but he mostly used fish you could order at a regular sushi joint. The tuna hand roll at the end tasted like a tuna sandwich but rolled in rice. Overall okay food but the experience includes also having someone make the food in front of you.
If you’re looking to try omakase for the first time and don’t want to splurge, this casual spot can give you that experience and quality at an affordable price point! $75 + tax for 13 courses and staff are so welcoming
I brought my dad here for his birthday. We both really enjoyed the experience - the chef was great and the food was delicious. It wasn't *a lot* of food, but we left feeling satiated. My only suggestion would be to improve the ambiance with better lighting and to play better music - the mainstream Christmas music just didn't fit with the experience, perhaps traditional Japanese music would have been more appropriate. I would definitely recommend coming here to try omakase for a reasonable price my bill came to just over $200 with tip one tea and one soda.
I went here for a special day. The owner-chef made sushi well, though something was very wrong. I have lived in Japan for 20 years. I was a professor there, which means I know something high-class food culture of Japan. It seems this owner-chef believes that "Omakase" means "Eat whatever I served." NO! Omakase means the sushi chef gets the freshest fish from the market every morning and serves them to the customers. There is no guarantee to serve the foods that he served yesterday, which means the sushi chef can not predict what kind of fish he could get from the market. Therefore, the menu can not be specified every day. Also, the meaning of Omakase includes I trust you, the chef that you will provide me with good fresh food and surprise me with unusual ingredients for the day. That's why Omakase is usually expensive. If the chef serves the same menu every day, it is not Omakase and cannot be expensive. This chef charges too much. I want him to learn from my message and reset his mind as a professional chef. This is almost cheating.
Booked an evening with my partner for an omakase experience and Kaito did not disappoint. The experience came with 10 courses with the option to have additional cuts. Seating was with up to 5 other folks at the bar, but the atmosphere was quiet and intimate. The chef and owner prepared everything, albeit a little quietly. This gives the diners an opportunity to briefly and quietly chat in between plates. The quality of cuts available were top tier, and the chef has curated a wonderful set of dishes. There were some pieces like akame zuki or fluke that I have not seen in many other places. Overall the experience was fantastic and far less expensive than I expected for the quality we received. Highly recommend.
Super amazing and affordable omakase. The head chef/owner is very nice and knowledgeable about his craft and serves great quality nigiri for an amazing price. Way more affordable than other most omakase restaurants, but he doesn't cut corners on the quality of the seafood.
