I would have been thrilled with this room when I was traveling the Czech Republic in 1994. 2025 South Bend? Not so much. The room's carpeting was damp with ground-in dirt. I had asked for a quiet room, and instead got placed over the industrial air conditioner that shook the bed and even the bathroom floor most of the night as the drag racers noisily sped through the intersection just outside my windows. The safety lock was broken. There was a big stain on the floor. The water was heavily bleached/chlorinated it hurt my skin. The cheapest toilet paper too. Though the breakfast was not bad--the eggs, salsa, and orange juice were fine--and the desk clerk who worked both the night and morning shifts was exceedingly pleasant, helpful, and kind, I do not recommend this hotel. It is a not a boutique experience but rather like a motel with breakfast and larger rooms.
I visited Notre Dame and decided to stay here for a more local experience. The hotel location is good if you’re visiting Notre Dame University and like to walk.nThe room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. However, the AC and the refrigerator were very noisy. The bathroom sink seemed clogged, and it was very uncomfortable.nAn important thing is that if you arrive by car, getting to the main entrance of the building is pretty straightforward. However, if you arrive by walk like I did, the place has not clear signs on how to get there and can be very confusing, since there’s just a desire path with no clear indication on where is the main entrance. You’re supposed to arrive to the south building but entrance is by their parking lot, not facing the main road.nBooking is very simple and can be done online. Check in/out are very easy, and the cost is more affordable respect to other hotels in the area.
A power outage caused me to look for a hotel. This came up among the chain hotels. I pass this every day going to work and wondered about it. Thought I’d give it a try. The front staff was very friendly. The lobby was welcoming.nnThe room was in need of some work, especially the barroom. The shower had missing grout. The tubbed drained very slowly.nnFor me, the double bed was very firm. We had gotten two beds to accommodate our family of 3. My wife ended up sleeping in bed with our son because I didn’t have much room.nnOf course, the non smoking hotel smelled very strongly of burned marijuana. My son kept asking what that stinky smell was. SO ANNOYING!!!!nnAll in all, we won’t be staying there ever again. For the price, fresh, clean, soft beds, functioning drains are just up the road a bit.
Very spacious room with a sitting area. Walking distance to the stadium! Helpful staff! Nice front porch to sit on while having coffee.
Diamond in the rough, especially for the price. And they'll match sites that have a lower price so that they don't have to lose money on the alternate site. Friendly staff, comfortable big rooms with kitchenettes. Creepy elevator ding that reminds us The Shining! All good though. Free brex.
