Cool addition to the neighborhood. Beautiful interior. Penicillin tasted great. Don’t think they should be serving $14/glass wine in thick short glasses; understand if it was a cheap house red but I think nice wine deserves proper wine glasses! They don’t take down names for wait list on weekends which results in an awkward tight standing area in the front door adjacent to the front tables which is a bit uncomfortable. Strange situation where the nicest looking table in the place can’t be sat due to a liquor board issue.
Amazing place!!! Exactly what this city and this neighbourhood needs. Unpretentious while still being thoughtful. I feel transported in the best way possible! Highly recommend.
I love It's Okay! A great addition to the neighbourhood - tasty bites, friendly folks and a great beer list. Been a couple of times now and I love what the new owners have done with the space. Best Chicken Wings in town.
This place is such a neighborhood gem. No ego, just good drinks, good service and good food. Definitely a new favorite!
Great addition to the neighbourhood. I love the cozy vibe and easy going menu aimed to please all types of folks. Love the side chips and the chopped cheese sando! Been at least 4 times since opening and will be back. Music is insanely loud though, was seated at the bar, side by side, with my friend and could barely hear each other. Volume has been the same each visit. Consider lowering the volume, I wana visit more! <3
It was busy when I arrived here and I didn’t even wait 10 seconds to be greeted. Was offered a seat until they had a table ready for us, and the service was great all the way through the visit. Friendly, fast and attentive servers, and great food! Honestly can’t say enough good things about this place. Vegetarian options: They have lots of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu which are clearly labelled.
This new spot, where What’s Up? Hot Dog! and the vegan bar Bad Apple used to be, is a really sweet addition to Hastings Sunrise. I find their interior design to be very warm and familiar, and also unpretentious. There are two huge TVs that are always on, which some may find distracting, but it didn’t bother me. I’ve tried two different sandwiches, the arugula fennel salad, and the chips from their menu, and enjoyed them all. The potato chips are made in house, and are pretty terrific! They open at 11:30am, so it’s a nice spot for a lunchtime hangout. The owners have been visiting and patronizing other businesses in the neighbourhood, and genuinely seem like good folks!
Love it here - such a great addition to the neighbourhood. Very Dundas W vibes if you've spent time in TO. : Last time we were here the food was a bit meh chicken wings, while delicious, had the tips left on w/ some feathers; arugula side salad was dirty/gritty but calling it an off night - usually great sandwiches & delicious chips.Food: 3/5
Lives up to its name. When someone asks me, I’ve said, “it’s okay.” The food menu leaves something to be desired for. Everything is pretty lacklustre, made that vegan place look more appetizing. Not sure what their intention was with the “New York cocktail 70s bar” / sports bar with modern sports art on the wall. Pick a theme. The staff didn’t greet us for a very long time. I prefer to be acknowledged even if there’s a wait. Nice to have a new vibe in the neighbourhood but won’t be surprised if this place dies in a year like the rest of them. Note to ownership: talk to staff about being more friendly and do something about your menu. For now, this place is a one and done in my books.
Nice spot for a beer and having opened in the spot of our old local, if you can get the menu dialled, we’ll happily spend a lot of time here. General consensus from our group was: an odd selection, pricey and not as tasty as it could be. Bar classics could use some work too- had a Caesar that was missing most of the ingredients. Vegetarian options: A few veggie options
