I recently visited Iryewon, a Korean-style Chinese restaurant, and had such a great experience that I wanted to share. We ordered the jjajangmyeon and the sweet & sour pork the glutinous rice batter style, and both dishes were absolutely delicious.nnThe jjajangmyeon had that rich, deep black bean flavor that's savory and slightly sweet, with perfectly cooked noodles that had a nice chewy texture. It really hit the spot. The sweet & sour pork was especially memorable -- the batter was crispy yet pleasantly chewy thanks to the glutinous rice coating, and the sauce was well-balanced, not overly sweet or heavy. You could tell the food was made with care.nnThe staff were all very kind, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was calm and quiet, making it a comfortable place to sit down and really enjoy your food without feeling rushed.nnOne of the biggest perks is the parking situation -- there's plenty of parking available, which makes it super convenient and stress-free to visit.nnOverall, a really solid spot for Korean-style Chinese food. I'll definitely be coming back!
To be honest, I don’t know how to put this, but I got a recommendation from Facebook and really expected some delicious Jjamppong in Toronto.nnHowever, I ordered the 'Samseon Jjamppong' here, and the first sip of the soup left me with nothing but question marks. Not going to lie, the taste was below average.nnAlso, the ingredients in the Samseon Jjamppong were absolutely terrible. I got plenty of squid, but it was mostly just the mouth parts. It even had green and red peppers inside along with broccoli.nnI wanted to ask, 'Are you kidding me? Are you sure you know what Samseon means?' I think it might have been too 'localized,' meaning it wasn't original at all.nnI don't know about the other menu items, but I definitely wouldn't recommend the Jjamppong or the Samseon Jjamppong here.
Food was amazing and service was the best! This is my new go-to spot for Korean food! Both the owners and the staff were super nice and very professional. 10/10 would recommend!
I had the pleasure of sampling the Sweet & Sour Pork, Yurinki, and Gan Jjajang.nnAll the dishes were exceptionally flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal with my family.
Overall, this is a decent Korean-style Chinese restaurant. The food is generally good, and I would recommend the glutinous rice sweet and sour pork over the regular version. The texture and flavor are noticeably better.nnThat said, the restaurant could use some updating. The menu books are quite worn out in several places, which gives the restaurant a somewhat dated appearance.nnAs for the service, I would suggest keeping your expectations modest. Like many Korean-run restaurants, the focus seems to be on the food rather than customer service. I still leave a tip because it is a social norm, but if I were judging strictly based on the level of service provided, I believe 10% would be appropriate.nnOverall, it's a good place for the food, especially if you're craving Korean-style Chinese cuisine.
