Extremely disappointing and uncomfortable experience. The pork belly was nothing but excessive fat, and both the pork and beef slices were cut paper-thin, which felt like very poor quality for what we paid. To make things worse, a staff member started spraying strong detergent and cleaning right next to us while we were eating. The smell was overwhelming and irritating to our noses, making it impossible to continue our meal. We felt so uncomfortable that we had no choice but to leave. This was incredibly unprofessional, unpleasant, and unacceptable. Definitely will not be coming back.
My all-time favorite Korean BBQ spot! Authentic flavors, great quality meat, and very budget-friendly. You can’t reserve over the phone — you need to book on their iPad in person. Wait times can be longer during holidays, but it’s totally worth it.
It was busy, and they only had 2 people serving, but they were doing their best to get to everyone. It took a while for stuff to come in but as said, busy day and low staff.nFood was good, and refills were fast! Daldongnae at Christie is easily one of the most authentic Korean BBQ spots in Toronto. I tried the pork belly, boneless short ribs, pork skirt, and the spicy squid salad — everything was impressively fresh and well-cut. The quality of the meat speaks for itself; it didn’t need heavy marinades to shine. Each bite was juicy, tender, yet retained a satisfying texture — the kind of balance that comes from proper butchery and handling.nnOne detail I really appreciated was the grill-side corn cheese and steamed egg — small touches that elevate the BBQ experience beyond just grilling meat. The spicy squid salad was also a highlight: bold, vibrant flavors with a pleasant heat and a generous portion perfect for sharing.nnThe space itself feels like a retro Korean BBQ joint straight out of the 50s, with vintage signs and warm lighting. The ventilation is well-designed, so you don’t walk out smelling like smoke — a detail I always notice.nnService was quick and friendly, though I’d recommend coming early or making a reservation since it gets busy.nnIf you’re serious about Korean BBQ and appreciate good cuts and proper grilling, Daldongnae at Christie is absolutely worth it.
an authentic KR-BBQ joint in the middle of KR town. a winning concept with creative sides juxtaposed to pork/beef/chickennnthe deco looks like a packed seoulite street hence, the noise level is high but supportable they may consider getting rid of music altogether which just adds to the noisennBBQ results in heat so the ambient temp should have been lower still, HVAC mostly works fine to suck any food smell and smokennthe service is friendly and attentive. the clientele is mid-upper class and young. reservations recommended. fair Q/P
