I went just before 6 on a Tuesday. Food was good, service was friendly. Very nice host/cashier. The room is showing some wear and tear but that doesn't affect food quality.
The only discernable flavour in the chicken chow mein was salt and the chicken was slices of luncheon chicken. The fried shrimp was 5 tiny shrimp incased in a tomb of greasy batter that i had to perform surgery on to rescue. The almond chicken was slightly more edible as it was only 70% greasy batter instead of the 90% of the shrimp. This is my first ever restaurant review, as this was the first time I was literally shocked at how bad the food was.
Yuck.... the sweet and sour pork tasted of stale flour and the chop suey veggies were way over cooked and were definitely not fresh quality. I will be returning this food for a refund tomorrow and will not be returning because this food doesn't even have a chance of being good.
Love going there for the buffet. Some times it's a hit and miss with takeout. The place could use a renovation.Food: 4/5
The sit down environment feels a little dirty and unwelcoming. I had an iced tea which was almost undrinkable, it seemed like very weak powdered iced tea which had that “I’ve been in the fridge too long” taste. The food from the buffet is almost tasteless and barely warm.
We did a phone, take out order for 2 on June 5, 2022. The service was great but the food was mediocre. There was no plum sauce for the spring rolls. The chicken chow mien was simply cooked noodles with the tiniest bit of cabbage in it and the chicken was a slice of deli chicken, cut julienne style and laid on top. The sweet and sour and beef broccoli were OK.
Always good Candian Chinese buffet food at Hong Shengs.Food: 5/5
I would actually give this place a -1 star if I could. My order of fried rice, fried prawns and sweet n sour pork. It was mostly tasteless, fried rice was plain white rice with frozen veg, the fried prawn tasted funky and were under done and over battered, like eating a loaf of raw dough. The sweet n sour pork was unappealing and tasted frozen and out of a bottle. The only good thing was my can of ginger ale. No recommendation from me
Wouldn't have given ANY stars if it was an option. This is the first time we've ordered from here and we definitely will not again. Our Beef & Broccoli only had 3 pieces of beef in it, the chicken in our chow mein was cut cold cuts, the sweet and sour pork was tangy....I could go on but won't waste my time. When I called the manager to complain he was also not helpful and hung up the phone when I requested refund.
We ordered a dinner for 4. The portions were really big. The chicken fried rice and chicken noodle dish had deli chicken meat not actual chicken breast and the beef chop suey did came with chicken some how. However the food tasted good and there wasn’t tons of salt and msg so we are giving the review a 3.
