Holly's Hot Chicken

When we pulled up I counted 23 people outside. I was surprised this place only had a 4.0 rating. I expect that will go up since this place is new and it was great. There is no seating, the popular thing to do was walk across the street and eat on the retaining wall in front of the old Grey building. I got the "Holly's hot" chicken sandwich was great and definitely crisper than average. Not my favorite of all time but worthy of the long line for sure. I was surprised they had donuts and they were good. They had a ticket system thankfully so we grabbed a donut and walked to a coffee shop a minute away. Wait wasn't bad considering the massive line

First visit here and it won’t be the last! I’ve been meaning to visit for some time, especially because I’m just down the street. I was reminded of the place and made a point of visiting for lunch! There appears to be an option for every taste basic, honey garlic, and varying degrees of heat. I opted for the habanero. It packed heat. I’m not sure I could have handled the ghost pepper option. I paired this with a side of fries large portion and easily shareable and a Root Beer! The sandwich itself had a perfect crunch, and, did I mention the heat! Next time, I may dial down on the heat, but I still enjoyed it. On the next visit, I’ll have to add a donut! Well done!

Nashville hot chicken is kind of a trend now, but Holly was doing it in Ottawa — via various pop ups — long before anyone else. And her hot chicken is hands-down the best. So crunchy, so spicy, just the right amount of pickles and lettuce … I appreciate that you can choose the level of spice, too. Fries are also good, and Holly’s pastry chef background means she’s also amazing at things like donuts, which are also on offer. My only complaint is that this is more of a takeaway place, which is fine during the summer with several places to eat nearby outside, but in the winter it’d be nice to see the place spruced up a bit for indoor dining.

This may be the new chicken sandwich king/queen of ottawa. The perfect level of crispiness/tenderness. High quality ingredients including that soft bun brioche. I don't think you'll find a better option around here anyways. Even my side order of fries were top quality. Would love to see more options for the sandwiches flavors etc. But wow this place is a gem if your a chicken sandwich fan. Sorry my photos don't do this justice.

I tried the honey hot burger and creme brulee donut. All the burgers are $10, and donuts $4 each. Holly's chicken burger is made very differently than other places. The chicken piece is coated in spicy oil after it's cooked. I loved it! It's juicy and tender but crispy on the outside. Chicken burgers are often greasy but this one is not! The creme brulee donut was more like a vanilla donut, but it was fresh and well-made! The order took about 15 minutes, so I would suggest keeping that in mind or ordering ahead. So happy to have this restaurant in Hintonburg. I will definitely be back.

Great stuffed fluffy donuts! Would like to try the other flavours, had the pumpkin spice latte. Service is very friendly. A couple tables for indoor dining. Lots of spice options for your burger.

Great chicken sandwiches!! Love the mac n cheese the most, they have a great selection for all spice levels. Only downside is I wish the piece of chicken was thicker, staff were also friendly. I am curious about their donuts, which seemed super fresh.

We got a hot honey chicken and cauliflower, and a hot holly chicken with sides of fries, coleslaw and cauliflower. It was all fine. In general, things were not salted, but that’s an easy thing to fix. The cauliflower would be nice with a dip. The fries were frozen, but okay. It arrived hot, we got what we ordered.

Excellent chicken sandwich. I got the habanero chicken sandwich and the heat level did not disappoint. Only giving it 4 starts because the fries needed salt, and there was no salt included in the bag. Ordered on Skip The Dishes and the food came pretty quickly, so bonus points for that!

Had the hot honey chicken. It was outstanding. Had it without fries and could barely finish the sandwich. Was perfectly crispy outside , moist inside and all the right flavours. Ranks with the best I’ve had, but at the lowest price I’ve seen in town.
