This was the third of 3 Holiday Inn Express stops during our cross country drive. Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie were the other 2. See my reviews for those.nnThe location of this Holiday Inn Express is perfect. Very close to Polo Park and all its attractions and restaurants. It was very easy for me to meet up at a nice restaurant with an old friend. That’s where it stops.nnThe first floor looks great. Newly renovated, modern, spacious. 11 seconds of first impressions were leaning in their favour. When I checked in, I would not say it was a friendly greeting, it was professional, but I’d argue with friendly. Curious. After checking in, we moved to our room. As soon as I stepped into the hallway 3rd floor, it appears the budget was spent on the first floor. The hallway was old. Then we earned into our room. Room was decent, not spectacular. Washroom was a closet with a shower. The door barely opened with the toilet in the way. The surroundings, hardware, etc. all very old, not super clean.nnHowever, it did have continental breakfast, the gym was the best of the 3. Unfortunately, I don’t think in booking this place if I come back to Winnipeg. There was another option, I suppose at the level I’m accustomed with close by and similar cost, so I’ll try that instead.nnLast word, it did have the best breakfast out and best gym out of the 3 Holiday Inn Expresses.
My review in point form:nnPositive Feedbacknn- quietn- convenient locationn- Friendly Staffn- comfy bed and pillowsnnNegative Feedbacknn- 4am Saturday janitor looking for an argumentn- Rooms are “Reno” but more like a band aid of Reno’s.n- The real Reno is the lobby and food area. Everything else is a band aid to look fresh.
Excellent hotel.nnOne of the very best hotels I have stayed at. The staff were so nice, friendly and helpful. The rooms are wonderful, very nice and clean. And I also really I love the fact that you can get snacks in the lobby 24/7.nnI would recommend this hotel to everybody.
Stayed at this hotel during a work visit. It was close to the hotel so it worked out but I'll never make this mistake again.nnThe rooms that have a shared door need soundproofing. I could hear my neighbor snoring and their partner telling them to be quiet. Afterwards, I could hear their TV and their talking as clear as day.nnNext, the shower needs a new showerhead. And when did hotels decide that shower doors were not necessary? I don't want my entire bathroom floor soaking wet.nnThe internet keeps cutting in and out and at times, it would take me 20 minutes just to get back online. If I'm doing work stuff, a reliable connection is needed.
Was there for a trade show. So, I can't rate the rooms. But the facility was very clean. Staff were nice.
