Seriously solid for a mid-low level hotel in the Marriott chain. The rooms are very clean albeit simple. The gym is fantastic and well-appointed. The breakfast is TOP NOTCH for a free buffet like better than the $35 ones at many hotels!.nnService from the staff was caring and dedicated. This was definitely a step above many other mid-low level traveler hotels.
I came to Winnipeg for a funeral and somehow accidentally booked this hotel along with another Marriott property on the same night. I understand it was my mistake to do the double booking but I tried calling the hotel multiple times and was told the manager was not in and would call me back. Never got a call back. Marriott Customer Care attempted to help twice but this Winnipeg hotel manager closed the file both times the same day the file was opened. VERY poor business to not even call me back to explain. Thank you for taking my $300 and not be willing to understand my difficult situation. I am loyal to the Marriott brand but I will never stay here again. Thank you Marriott Customer Care to try to help resolve this but this greedy inconsiderate manager got their way this time. Karma, take the wheel!
This is the only Marriott property I've stayed at with no bar or restaurant which is the reason for the low location rating. There really isn't anything great for a pub super close by which is disappointing. Rooms are great, clean and comfortable. Staff are amazing as well.
Overall I'm rating this as a 4/5. I would definitely be back and found the location convenient for the proximity to the airport and lots of essentials nearby like McDonald's, Tim Hortons, 7-11, and even a Walmart and Staples within 5-10 mins drive max.nnPerhaps a bit lacking for bars and restaurants though there are some drivable nearby but nothing on premise. That said I used skip the dishes and it was no huge deal considering this was business travel and I was mostly out all day anyways.nnThe hotel's included breakfast was among the best I've ever had for continental style breakfast, with a plethora of options for all tastes and types. For context I stayed here because the Winnipeg Fairmont I stayed at last time was sub bar for not only a Fairmont but any 3.5-4 star hotel. I regularly stay at Marriot premier properties like JW Marriott and LeMeriden and this was on par with their breakfast options.nnThe issues I ran into weren't deal breaks but did need some attention like the broken elevator button and toilet paper roll holder in my room. That said the residence style room was fantastic overall and I would definitely stay here again.nnThe staff were very friendly overall though I did find it strange I couldn't tap to pay for items in their little convenience shop/mart behind the front desk. They only take cash so I just drove elsewhere.
Stayed there on a Saturday first of all the toilet wasn't functioning properly asked the guy downstairs who had an attitude and was laughing at me . To send a maintenance guy I come back to the room to find him in there and he didn't have a clue what he was doing i told him the problem so he lifts the tank fill hose out of its cradle and said he fixed it I told him that it has to stay in its cradle to fill up the bowl I do plumbing i told him it's the fill valve and he said they don't carry those in stock. He said he could get one Monday and change it then but I'm checking out on Sunday and had no toilet in the meantime I went and talk to the girl downstairs and told her I would like a different room and she agreed and gave me a different room but what a hassle to move when your settled in....also pool was really crowded lots of unregistered people and friends of registered guests swimming in the pool after the pool closed lots of them left because they were not registered guests
