Good meal. Good attentiveness by the server. Excellent atmosphere made for an enjoyable dining experience. I ordered the Chicken Fried steak that comes with Green Beans and mashed potatoes. My wife ordered fried pork chops that came with collards and mashed potatoes. We both agreed that the food lack proper seasoning. I seldom add salt to my food, but found it necessary today. Portions were good for a hearty diner. The food was cooked to perfection with a beautiful crust on the fried meats. Good discounts if you dine before 4:00 p.m., which we did. Our meal with only water to drink came to $42.
Good food and service. Cloth napkins woo hoo and lots of table options. Restaurant is definitely family oriented verses a young hangout. Great selection of seating option from high backed booths to high tops in the bar. Very good staff. Lunches specials were $10-15. My meatloaf and collards was excellent along with my wife’s shrimp wrap and some great fries. Parking could be challenging.
Our lunch was very good. Our sever was also good. He was on top of everything. We usually come here with a big party but eating as just a couple was so much nicer. The food tasted better and the atmosphere is airy.
Went here for a family dinner. It was quite busy so recommend a reservation for a weekend night. We sat in the back area and they had a lovely fire. Started with chicken tenders and fried green tomatoes. They were very tasty and good for sharing. I had the ribeye steak with a baked potato. Well seasoned. Cooked to correct temperature. Good marbling. Baked potato came with sour cream...I would have liked some bacon, cheese and/or chives but it was still good. Finished with the creme brulee and chocolate brownie. Both were good flavor and nice portions.
Came in on 02-05-2022 about 1530 hours. The bartender was extremely busy But she was pulling it off. She left at 4 PM and a new bartender took over. Between 4 PM and until Danielle showed up, that that bartender was absolutely useless. We all have "off days". I get it, but, Good looks only get you so far. I felt like a afterthought. Then Danielle showed up with her groovy green hair. Danielle walked in and and serviced every customer at the bar that needed it and introduced herself to non familiar faces like myself. Danielle should be wearing a Cape!. If I was still in the restaurant business she would be working for me today. I usually Tip very generously. 30% + Between 4 PM and Danielle's appearance, I was really having my doubts. When I cashed out I made a point to do it with Danielle. I think she was happy. As far as the food; I started out with the crawfish gumbo. EXCELLENT!. 5 Then I had the crab cake appetizer. 3 1/2 Then I had the salmon entree with rice pilaf and green beans. 4 Very well written menu with very nice options. The wine menu was definitely 5 As far as the atmosphere, done very well.. Very clean and uncomfortable environment. Definitely look forward to coming back next time I'm in town. Peace
Went on the advice of a local that loves the steak salad. Seriously a fabulous upscale mix of southern charm, comfort, & fine dining. Gumbo is to die for, filet perfect, green beans excellent, cheese grits delectable, 75 yr old recipe key lime pie delicious, staff spot on, waiter charming & knowledge, the host/owner? Pride in this place. Go here if you can!
We went on a Wednesday night around 5pm and it was pretty busy. There are entree specials $4 off before 6pm, but not for seafood pasta and potentially others? We ordered seafood pasta, a cup of gumbo, and fried shrimp. The pasta has very little seafood with light alfredo sauce. Gumbo is good! They provided a brownie for our birthday celebration- best part of the meal! Brownie was warm and gooey with pecans and ice cream, definitely worth a try. Service can get a little slow - we were there for 2 hours, but our waitress Kim was very sweet and enthusiastic!
A great local bar and eating experience. This place straddles all three top criteria for a great restaurant. Great food, great service and a comfortable feel. The service is great whether you're at the bar or at a table. The bar area is definitely a local feel. The brass plaques around the bar with people's names on it show you how local it is! The bar staff is friendly and attentive and this is a great place to come chat with a friend. The restaurant side of the business is also good. The steaks are tender and juicy, and they also serve a wide variety from healthy to less healthy but really tasty! The menu is straightforward and there's not a lot of frou frou stuff. It's just good wholesome food. Every time we come here the food quality has been excellent. There were families eating here and business people having drinks. It's quite a mix. It seemed like a friendly place, partially because a lot of the people seem to know each other. But I didn't feel like a stranger. Felt very welcome and at home. There is a beautiful outside patio with lights in the trees and a rather romantic feel. Would be a good place for a date.. There's plenty of parking. And it's easy to access off Atlanta highway. Probably a boring backstory but I think this place used to be a Shoney's that I would eat at with my grandparents way back in the '70s. But they have converted it into a nice upscale place with lots of stone and leather. But it's not a stuffy place. Feels very comfortable. And it certainly doesn't feel like a Shoney's!
Came in for lunch on a Saturday. It was pretty busy. Sat at the bar. Ordered a New York strip which came with a salad and baked potato. Ordered blue cheese dressing for my salad on the side without me specifically asking it that way. Dressing was watery. Streak cooked correctly. Potato with sour cream fine. Food came fairly quickly with appropriate time for me to eat my salad before the steak arrived. Bartender busy but extremely efficient.
Derek was our server. Very helpful & terrific service. Food was excellent. Steak grilled perfectly, medium rare. My husband's rainbow trout was delicious, as were all our sides. Casual attire nice jeans & shirt/ blouse or dressy attire. Great bar & ambience. A nice place to meet someone for a drink & dessert. The shared Key Lime pie was excellent.
